Like a real "woohoo" not one o' them dinky Fluttershy "woohoo"'s.
My story, How Everypony Loves Pinkie, managed to pull out a second place victory in the EqD Nightmare Night 2012 fanfic contest!
How the hell? Don't ask me. I didn't even expect to make the finalists, much less nearly WIN the whole thing. I still consider this a complete victory, to be honest. I like silver. And its known to stave off evil. And after reading my competition, some of them made me feel like I'm really going to need that, especially today/tonight.
That being said, a congratulations are also in order for third place, Won't You Help Me Pull My Wagon by KholdstareV (unlinked here because I dislike fanfiction.net), and the winner, A Nightmare Night to Remember by Syntactics.
I'd also like to make a special mention to two of the other finalists: Malus Maleficarum by SaddlesoapOpera was by far my personal favorite, even above and beyond my own work. Just the perspective the reader is presented with is so... chilling. It might not be the scariest of the bunch, but just getting to read almost through the eyes of somepony as that happens to her... dayam.
Oh, and then there's NIGEB by Aquaman. I swear to God, it took me until this morning for the horror to truly strike me. This is the only story that genuinely freaked me out. I'm dead serious. The sheer fact is, there's a little tidbit that, if read properly and not skimmed over, might just get the entire concept haunting your nightmares for months. Normally I'd call it a gimmick. But that THING in my dreams last night. The only thing left is for me to find a pocketwatch.
For the record, if I find a Dead Ringer in TF2 later, I will probably scream. Same difference.

I'm not exactly happy with the difference in line length on FiMfic from Google Docs, just this once, and those who've read the original might be able to pick up on why, but the story's still all there.
