New plan! · 11:05pm Oct 30th, 2012
So, chapter 9 is out. As usual, that took way to long. I'm beginning to suspect that I'm approaching this writing thing wrong. It usually begins with me realising that it had been far too long since the last update (again). Then I procrastinate some more, and then I finally sit down in an 10 hour long marathon. This is hardly an effective approach, especially because I get sick of it somewhere halfway and yet keep chugging on, and that doesn't do a whole lot of good for the quality of my writing.
I tried working with deadlines, but that only resulted in me having these marathon writing sessions more frequently, which completely drained what little creative energy I had.
So, I needed a new plan, and here is what I came up with: every day from now on, I'll try to write at least 700 words. With the usual size of my chapters, this should result in an average of one chapter each week, which would be most reasonable. Chopping the work in bite-sized pieces like this should make the work less stressful, which means it will be easier for me to keep it up, which means that I can release more often.
I already started work on the next chapter about 4 hours ago, and the current wordcount is 842. I enjoyed writing it, and I'm pretty sure you will be pleased while reading it.
Look forward to the next chapter; I'm planning on making it zany!
Cool! Hope the new plan works well for you. Looking forward to the next chapter!
When you say zany, do you mean...
A. Completely random zany,
B. Comedic zany,
C. Completely random comical zany
D. Pinkie Pie style zany
461945 Let's just say I plan on making some characters run into all kinds of trouble. And it will be hilarious.
That sounds quite reasonable. Now I need to start reading things again...
Be careful. It might look easy enough, but you still might be a bit hard pressed to release a new chapter every week.
Honestly, if you feel like giving a bit more time before releasing a chapter for whatever reason, I would support that.
Still, I could easily be wrong and this may work for you. All the same, best of luck!
461965 Oh, I doubt I'll actually manage to release every week, but my biggest problem is procrastination. I can make up stories just fine, but when the time comes around to start typing, I kind of get distracted and start doing something else. This system is mostly meant to make sure that I will actually start typing things down by setting small, reasonably attainable goals every day.

I know that feel, bro.
I try to do that sort of thing on occasion with coursework or writing essays, but I'll always find myself doing most- if not all- the work at the last bloody minute.
But I feel it is your destiny to succeed where we other procrastinators have failed! Now go forward, and space your work out like the sensible person you are!
...or, y'know, whenever you feel like it.
