For those not in the know, Kill Six Billion Demons is a web-comic created by author, artist, world building juggernaut Tom Parkinson-Morgan. It starts out simple enough. Alison is your average adorable anime loving college age barista living a quiet life. She does have one major problem that’s often on the mind of those still innocent college aged adults. She is still a virgin!
But she’s a virgin with a boyfriend and has resolved to nip this problem in the bud (hehehe)! Unfortunately for her, things go awry when an interdimensional key-carrying demiurge shows up in her BF’s bedroom right as she’s about to get her cherry popped and then he’s waylaid by Holy Thorn Knight who absconds with her ticket out of Virginville.
It must be Tuesday, AMIRITE?!
So she gets sucked into a brand new world. Luckily for her, she gets to keep her original body. Unlucky for her, it’s a fantastical realm of demons, angels, and other creatures instead of a safe high school or even university.
There’s still at least one musical number, though…

Just… I’m kinda in love with every drawn page. Let’s leave it at that
Story-wise, it’s a wonderful hodgepodge of all major world religions mixed into one delicious vat of myth slurry that I would happily sustain myself on until the heat-death of the universe. Tom even has gone so far as to create philosophical offerings and fables of the major religion of the world which are interspersed below the comic pages.
He’s even gone so far as to create language and dialects within the world as well as backstories for multiple factions and there’s even a guidebook for someone who wants to run an RPG in this setting.
On the downside, it’s going to be a lot harder for the whole of human accomplishment to offer up something that compares to this work.
Okay, I’m maybe being hyperbolic… a little. And, sure, Tom is mixing lots and lots of themes from different sources so it’s not necessarily brand-new genre and basically… mythic kung-sci-fantasy. But hey, to get appropriately biblical here, there’s nothing new under the sun. Might as well be REALLY good at combining as much of those not-new things in a wholly new combination. So yeah, if you haven’t read it. Go do that.
Seriously! Stop what you’re doing and read this right now.
