John Lasseter leaving Disney · 3:05am Jul 11th, 2018
Here's something to write about during the hiatus. It seems that John Lasseter, the founder of Pixar, is going to be leaving Disney for good. It is disappointing since I'm such a big fan of Disney and Pixar in general. However, considering the recent controversies, I suppose it was inevitable. For those of you who don't know, it has recently come to light that Lasseter was responsible for lewd behavior and inappropriately touching women at work. It seems it has been decided that he should leave. If you will permit me to play devil's advocate for a minute, I feel that, despite any anger you have toward him, we should go easy on Lasseter. Sure, what he did was wrong, but it wasn't all that bad. It's not like he stalked anyone or streaked in public, at least as far I'm aware of. He just had some bad habits. We all have our inner demons, some worse than others, yes, but even so, I think it is important to remember that John Lasseter has always strived for his best elsewhere in his career, building a whole company from the ground up, revolutionizing the animation industry, got Disney out of its creative slump in the 2000's, and took part in creating some of the most beloved animated movies of all time. Instead of chastising him for this one slight to his character, let's remember him for all the good he's done.
