AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: Animation Inspiration Oneshots! · 6:18pm Jun 17th, 2018
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm huge into animated stuff, and MLP is only the tip of the iceberg. And, every once in a while, certain series/movies fire up a creative spark inside me. Problem is, I'm on my third animation-inspired fic idea after seeing Incredibles 2, and I frankly have no clue which one to write. This is where you come in!
All three, if released, would be written as non-crossover oneshots that borrow small elements from their source material. (Basically all-new ideas with some resemblances to the things they're based off.) Incidentally, all three also happen to star Coco, because I really can't stop myself from writing her sometimes. So, without further ado, here are my ideas, and the voting will start immediately!
Some Strings Attached--Coco Pommel has just received the deal of her life working for one of Bridleway's premiere agencies, and all it took was having a friend in just the right place. However, only a few days into it, Coco realizes that there's a major snag--three of her new coworkers make up the superhero trio Silver Phoenix, and she's stuck on costuming duty for them, too! It'll take a lot to figure out a new form of fashion design, but Coco has never backed away from a challenge...right? (Inspired by The Incredibles. Contrary to all expectations and my own temptations, the supervillain for this story will not be Mosely.)
Glitched Stitches--All the ponies exist in a computerized world, in which recurring characters are placed inside the MLP cartoon...but the ones who don't return face a far darker fate. After the Coco Pommel name scandal, "Miss Pommel" is placed inside the temporary dimension where all "glitched" characters live out their lives in exile, waiting for their chance to be used again. Glitches can be anything from naming issues to personality flaws in this world, and before Coco escapes, she meets more than her share of colorful characters. Namely, the strange filly trapped inside a capsule, whom the show creators have marked "do not open under any circumstances." (Inspired by Wreck-It Ralph. Bears the least resemblance to the source material and came about specifically because Vanellope's "glitch" circumstances reminded me a little of how Babs was discarded in IYGALL. The main CocoBabs entry in this set. Also, since Lightning Dust and Coco are pals in this canon, expect a ton of LD development.)
Aggrecoco--Coco is expected to put on her best face at work, but the issues around her drive her to vent at a karaoke bar late at night. But hey, it's no different from what most actors do after work, right? (Inspired by Aggretsuko. Probably the most simple and straightforward idea of the three. I haven't seen the Netflix series yet, so this will probably feel more like the original Japanese shorts.)
All three sound interesting, but I'm not familiar with Aggretsuko so I'd probably get the least out of it. Hmmm......I say go with Glitched Stitches. That one just kinda....sticks out the most to me.

That's probably the one I've developed most. Literally the only "inspiration" thing I took from its source material is "sentient glitch child," and the rest is just my own cyberpunk interpretation of the MLP world. So it's probably the most thought-out one.
