So...I'm thinking of making a final attempt to get into Fire Emblem, which is a franchise I've always had trouble mustering up interest in.
I'm looking to pick up one (1) 3DS Fire Emblem game.
Which one would be the best choice?
I would say Awakening is a good starting point. If you want more gameplay but a higher difficulty, go with either Fates: Birthright or Fates: Conquest. There is also the Revelations option for Fates.
All advice from a Fire Emblem fanatic.
I‘d say either Awakening or Echoes: Shadows of Vaentia. Awakening is very newcomer friendly and introduced many new interesting features. Echoes is more traditional, but features unique elements like the dungeons or the different weapon system

My own research would also seem to indicate Awakening is the better option. Thanks.

No problem.
I've heard Fates has a very crappy writing. Awakening is decent enough, and is newcomer friendly. Dunno about Echoes, as I have yet to play it, but I expect it to be better than Fates
Don’t do any of the fates games. They are radically different than the other parts of the series. Plus they’re written worse than Cart before the Ponies.
Echoes is a good way to go back to old Fire Emblem. Just be ready to either grind or buy DLC if you want to keep up. It is a very challenging game.
Never played Awakening, so don’t trust my opinion.
If you've never played a Fire Emblem Game before you can't go wrong with Awakening. It is very newcomer friendly and has different levels of play, that you can utilize as you get better.
Definitely Awakening. Echoes is good, but the middle tends to drag out and could be a huge turnoff for the series. Both have great characters.
Of course if you want to just dip your toes in for free, Heroes isn't a terrible representation of the series.
Go with Awakening.
I bet that game will inspire you another EG crossover or two
Awakening has always been a joy for me to play. Just be sure to ship who you want together and you'll have a blast.
Awakening
I own every fire emblem released in America, its not the best but I definitely had tons of fun with it
4881901 ok i love Echoes but I wouldn't recommend it and the main reason for that is because it's gameplay is so different from the other games in the series so if you were to go from that to another game you'd probably be a little confused by certain changes in mechanics
