A Dance Among the Stars: Chapter 4 (An Update and a Promise) · 7:27pm Jun 11th, 2018
Hey, everypony!!! So... yeah, it's been kind of a while since chapter 3 dropped, so I figured I'd give you all a heads up as to what's been going on in the near nine months between updates. In no particular order, my dad broke his leg, a major shift in classroom structure and direction happened in the school I teach at, had a slight nervous breakdown, Monster Hunter World, passed a kidney stone, forgot my birthday, my grandma fell and broke her wrist, God of War, another goddam kidney stone, and, of course, writing Twilight's chapter. Which, I am happy to report is finally finished as is currently being edited and pre-read.
So yes, I'm not quite dead yet!!! You know, just mostly.
And I figured, as long as I've still got some semblance of sanity, I may as well thank you all for your continued support and lay out the groundwork for what is to come.
First of all I want to give some damned big shout outs to abronie, Mistic Cipher, and TheRedBaron who painstakingly read through each chapter and pointed out every little grammatical and spelling error I made, and brought suggestions to how the narrative structure and presentation might be improved. Seriously, guys, you're awesome!!!
Next, I want to thank Some Guy Who Writes, who's been helping me vet all my madcap ideas into a bit more of a coherent story. Thanks for putting up with me dude.
And of course, I'd be remiss not to thank all of you lovely people who've volunteered to help me edit and pre-read all my jumbled words. So, Tenth, Sipioc, TheCrimsonFlash, this one's for you, cheers!!!
And of course, to all you good people who turned this lost bet project into something that has bolstered my confidence and helped me to improve as both a writer and storyteller, a big, bucking thank you to all of you.
Now, with all that mushy stuff out of the way, here's what to expect in the coming months:
1). A major editing overhaul: After publishing chapter 4, I plan on clearing up some of the glaring grammatical errors and hopefully make the first three chapters more readable. As well as clear up a couple of inconsistencies, I forgot about Flurry Heart in Chapter 1, but who doesn't forget about Flurry Heart.
2). An addition to Chapter 2: I had originally planned to include a small exchange between Matthias and Starry during the Night Court scene, but felt that the chapter would be too long given what I already had planned. But considering how much I've written just for Twilight's chapter, I'd really like to go back and see if I can add it in without disrupting the flow too much.
3). A Dark Warning: From Chapter 4 onwards, we're going to be delving into what happened to Matthias when he first arrived in Equestria, and as many of you have guessed, it wasn't exactly pleasant. As such, during chapters that deal with what exactly he went through, there will be a warning in the Chapter title, similar to how I and some authors will highlight that there will be clop in a chapter. I only do this, because, at the time when I first published A Dance Among the Stars, the tag system would not allow for a story to have both a 'Comedy' and a 'Dark' tag at the same time. However, don't take the dark tag as a sign that there is going to be a tonal shift in the story, think of it more as delving into some uncomfortable themes that don't necessarily work under that comedy tag as the characters try to work past their particular hang-ups and move forward with their lives.
and 4). More Consistent Updates: I don't like being constrained to schedules. Some days I can write over a thousand words, others I can barely put down a hundred. And the last time I promised a definite release date on a chapter, the finished product felt rushed to me. However, 9 months is still 9 bucking months!!! So while I won't promise a definite release date for the other chapters, I will promise to get them out at a more reasonable rate.
So once again, thank you all for your continued support and patience, and I hope you enjoy the adorkableness that is Twilight Sparkle!!!

When he says he has written a lot for Twilight's chapter he means, a lot! I have no doubt that all of you that love this story as much as I do will read this utter delight with a childish zeal.
