    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I SLEEP A LOT
I was supposed to grill pork today but I slept through supper. :applecry: So here's a music video.

One of the best live performances ever. (Metrock 2015 was better but I won't link Dailymotion) Anyway…

I've made some more tweaks to The Rejected Chapter Two and it should be ready to go live Monday morning (CDT) as promised. It's nearly twice the length of Chapter One, so I had to take more care with it. I would like to have Chapter Three ready to go by Thursday, but I have real life stuff going on this coming week (like a doctor's appointment) that may hamper final tweaks and push it back to Friday. As for Chapter Four… I have no clue. It's the shortest chapter, but may need more of a tuneup once I get under its hood. We'll see.

I told Nonny this already, but I'll say it here too. I have added a prologue to Recovery (the *sniff* final SRA story) by cannibalizing a different unpublished story I wrote nearly three years ago in anticipation of my upcoming parallel continuity of EQG stories. I'd love to start getting the story out as soon as I can since, like The Rejected, I've been sitting on this for nearly a year and I want to clear my backlog.

Please don't take that to mean I'm sick of SRA. Far from it! If I'd stopped caring, I would have posted everything I have without edits as soon as I got my new laptop and just left it at that. I certainly wouldn't have written two additional stories to flesh out the world and Sunset's character & state of mind. Hell, I'll probably feel a sense of loss once it's over…

…Even though there's a non-canon epilogue coming down the pike which I also finished during my hiatus. But it needs some cleaning up too because of the stuff I've written since.

On the personal front, my sleep schedule has been really weird even by my standards lately. I've been conking out during the afternoons. I don't know if it's my pills or just the fact that it's fucking hot outside.

My dreams have been bizarre too. I have "failing class" dreams on a semi-constant basis (even though I earned my degree years ago), but they usually don't devolve into punching dinosaurs in the face. Also being stalked by a guy I once knew who IRL is a staunch Christian yet for some reason was yandere for me and I was trying to get away from his faggotry (most of my friends, including my best friend, are LGBT, so homophobia does not become me). And last night involved euthanizing very old & sick cats -- one of whom has been dead for 17 years -- with Tasers… then an overcrowded dog kennel of Golden Retrievers who kept reproducing even though I believed they had been fixed.

The stalking one I can blame on myself for writing such stories (see last year's Halloween gift to y'all). I can't explain the others though.

It's getting to the point I'm starting to dread going to sleep.

Meanwhile, a dude came by this afternoon to take formal measurements of my windows in preparation for getting them all replaced later this summer. While I will miss the original windows to an extent, they are seventy years old, wood, and terrible about air leaks. This and the new siding should have a significantly positive (for me) effect on my electric bills, especially come the winter… assuming we get one this year (fucking global warming).

Peace out!

Wow, those are some crazy dreams. :O I'm happy that even though my sleep schedule is absolutely abhorrent too I'm having both comforting dreams and relatively comforting nightmares.

You made a wise move going with the new windows. Our house was built in the mid-'80s but they were crap and we had them all replaced last year with double pane. The difference is quite noticeable.

I'm retired so there is no schedule; I sleep whenever the hell I feel like it, and my dreams are fairly innocuous so no advice here. My wife had problems quite a few years ago and her shrink had to switch out one of her meds, but my knowledge of pharmacology is nil so, again, no help from me. I'm just glad to see that you are coping as well as you can.

My home was built in either 1947 or 1950 (Realtor told me the latter; city property records say the former). Current siding is cheap shyte slapped over the original wood with minimal insulation. It is quickly falling apart and mildewing on the north side, and the southwest side may have wood rot due to improper sealing. I'm stoked because I was able to get what I felt was a very fair deal on windows, siding, and a new front storm door -- I think my current one, which came with the place, cost four bucks at a garage sale. Along with getting my home completely rewired last month (70y.o. wiring = No), I may as well be living in a whole new place by the time of my birthday near the end of Summer.

The current crap siding is a sandy cream that's sort of in the ballpark of the house's original colour (white). What I chose is close in style to the original wood (6" board) but will be a greyish blue with white trim. My front door is what I like to call "Hedgehog Blue" (it used to be red), so it will all complement nicely. I also need to get my front columns replaced because they're rotting at the base, but that's not gonna cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Sometimes you have to spend a chunk of change in the short term to save money in the long run. Wednesday, I have a guy coming to give my AC unit a courtesy check before we get into the worst of the Summer because I have a coupon and preventative is almost always cheaper than waiting until something breaks.
