Need your BAD pony fanfic recommendations! · 11:47pm May 25th, 2018

We're doing a panel at High Roller Pony Con where we read bad fanfictions, and we need your help filling a few gaps in the lineup with the absolute WORST fics the fandom has to offer!

In particular, we're looking for fics that:

  • Are around 1,000 words, or excerpts from longer stories around that length
  • Are appropriate for a non-18+ audience
  • Preferably have a good amount of dialogue, so as many panelists as possible can be involved

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, and if you're going to HRPC, be sure to say hi!

I assume you want stories that are bad on purpose? Because it doesn't seem quite right to nominate things that were written in earnest. I know I sure wouldn't like seeing someone suggest one of my stories that I thought was good.

Like Pasco, I'm assuming you mean deliberately bad stories, a la Whinnie the Pooh and the Sex Vampires.

Best I've got for that is Pride's Hardon Lewdad, a self-parody of his famous BiE fic, Arddun Lleuad.

I guess I'll also throw out Nightmare Carrots and Ordinary Human Fanfiction, insofar as both are firmly in the "on purpose" category, and out of my (very limited) library of read trollfics, seem like they might make for "good" read-alouds.

Have fun at the con!

Well, can't go wrong with the classics! Argembarger's The Spiderses, bookplayer's Love on the Acers of Sweet Aplles, apple short's Spike Fights the Angle Bunny (though that definitely earns its T rating). And of course I can't resist mentioning My Harshwhinnial.

You probably oughta ask Present Perfect, though. He could give you a whole ton of "Troll Recommended" highlights.
