I'll be at Anthrohio this weekend!
Not actually pictured: Anthrohio, Trick Question, modesty, or the mysterious difference between bronies and furries.
It's a local furry con I started back in 2003. If you're a brony who knows me, stop by and say hi. I might host a writer's room party on Saturday or something.
If I do, I'll make plans tomorrow night and post them in this message, including my room number.
I won't be able to come, but it looks like fun! Hope you have a great time!
While I often joke that bronies are just a kind of furry, I think that the difference is that furries have a general appreciation for anthropomorphic art (i.e. are fans of anthropomorphic art in general) while bronies don't necessarily like anthropomorphic art in general, and thus, may not qualify as furries, even though MLP is a furry show, because they lack enthusiasm for anthropomorphic art in general.
Also, many bronies seem to particularly like the lack of anthropomorphic features (like hands) that ponies have, liking them being 5s on this scale:

Which actually makes sense; I don't really like anthro ponies, I like the fact that they're quadrupedal and suchlike, and I consider my appreciation for that separate from and distinct from my appreciation for anthropomorphic art.
Oh yeah, I forgot you ran a con. That's gotta be a lot of work.
Have fun, and good luck! Hope everything runs smoothly :)
I don't think that Applejack is enjoying herself very much.
The wolf, though, seems to be having a great time.

I haven't run it in over a decade, fortunately.

The looks on their faces made the photograph an easy choice for this blog post, even though I have no idea where the picture is from.
I suppose it's a fair question about the overlap between Bronies and Furries. I don't have enough understanding of the Furry side myself to even know where to start asking questions without just picking at stereotypes I've heard. I do get the impression that there's probably a difference, but I struggle to quantify it.
For myself personally, I've gotten a bit more into the anthro/human art posts on EqD lately, but I haven't found that translates to interest in anthro art outside the fandom. But then on the other hand, I've seen some killer Pony suits at cons, and there's a part of me that could see that being fun and cool.
I'm not sure what all of that adds up to. Anyway, enjoy the con!

That's convenient :D
For some reason I see something weird what the fox is doing to Applejack. I won’t go into too many details.

This is not as rare in furry as you might think. Plenty of furries have nonmorphic fursonas, and for one, The Lion King is a movie that drew a lot of people into furry fandom (in which arguably only Timon is physically morphic).
I think of ponies as being closer to 4 than 5. They use hooves as hands, frequently pose on two legs (like Rarity with the guitar), etc.

Guys, that's clearly a skunk. Or maybe a skolf.
