So, Avengers Infinity War was awesome · 1:18pm May 23rd, 2018

Fimfic, I feel pretty good.

It dawned on me last week, as I was waiting in line to see Avengers, that this has been a thing for a very long time. I mean, there are kids who grew up with Iron Man and Captain America just like 60 odd years ago. Watching and waiting for the next adventure, for the new challenges, for the excitement that every film brought. Ten years. Ten years and a shitton of movies. Ten years of "how are they going to pull this off". Ten fucking years.

Holy shit, the madmen did it.

Now, I will point out that I am a Marvel nerd. I try to keep up with the comics as best I can (bit hard to do with where I am in the world, but touch wood that will change soon enough), I watch and rewatch the films religiously, I discuss it endlessly with my friends because I love this universe just so damn much. The writing, the characters, the action, the drama, the nods to the comics, everything is just so insanely awesome that I was going into the theatre with damn high expectations. And it met them. Then shot by them for another 1000 miles.

Now, for those who watched it and who are aware of the nature of comics, I know that a lot of what happens isn't the be all and end all. That said, fuck me they did not pull any punches. Thanos and his children were genuinely threatening, this wasn't a "Oh, they'll pull through at the end" kind of film. It took every hopespot and stamped it out again and again. This is the kind of writing I want to achieve one day, the kind where you leave the story with that kind of feeling.

I can't say much more without spoiling the fuck out of it, and I hate when people do that, so I'll leave this quasi review/jerk off session with one bit of advice:

Watch this movie.
