So there's been ... an awful lot going on in my life lately. And as is usual for me when there's an awful lot to say, I lock up and go silent, and nothing gets said. 
Alas, this is not the State of the Author post where I catch everyone up — I'm still working my way up to that one. At least I can break my silence with this in the meantime.
So, for now: a shout out to Rocket Lawn Chair and Caliaponia, who joined me for a cool non-EFNW consolation prize OBJECTIVELY MORE AWESOME CONVENTION EXPERIENCE [1] THAT ALL YOU POOR SAPS MISSED OUT ON, this last Saturday — about 12 hours before I threw out my back loading the car for a Search & Rescue training and had to spend two days in bed. [3] 
RLC wrote up a post with details of our gathering, although he left out the part about how every venue we went to had horse-themed decorations. Still, there's a picture there of me not balled up on the floor with back pain, so that's a win!
... I'm mostly better.

Well, glad to know you're still out there breathing and doing stuff. Wish you had made it to everfree, though!
Be careful with your back, dude. You usually only get one of them and screwing with even a small part of it can be a real horror story! Keep feeling better!
Sounds awesome. Now... if you want... I mean... just throwing this out there. Possibly... migrate sadsacon to join EFNW next year? I mean, just to help out the rest of us schlubs who were in Seattle instead of Sacramento.

Sorry to hear about your back! This goes without saying, but take it easy. I've known way too many people with way too many stories that start with "my back was finally feeling okay so I tried moving this giant and obscenely heavy thing when—"
It's good to know you continue to exist; the world (pony and otherwise) wouldn't be the same without a horizon in it

Every time I think about how I seem to be doing well on the back front, I feel Murphy penciling in a visit. Glad it doesn't sound like it's too lasting a wrench.
