Pinkie Pie: Surprise! Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie, and I threw this party just for you! Were you surprised? Were ya? Were ya? Huh huh huh?
Twilight: Very surprised. Libraries are supposed to be quiet!
Pinkie Pie: Well, that's silly! What kind of welcome party would this be if it were quiet? I mean, duh, bo-ring! Y'see, I saw you when you first got here, remember? You were all "hello" and I was all [GASP!!!], remember? Y'see I've never saw you before and if I've never saw you before that means you're new, 'cause I know everypony, and I mean everypony in Ponyville!
Let's back up a bit...
Pinkie Pie: Well, that's silly! What kind of welcome party would this be if it were quiet? I mean, duh, bo-ring! Y'see, I saw you when you first got--
Twilight: [suddenly turning and glaring at Pinkie] EXCUSE ME??? Did you just say that "quiet" means "BORING" and "SILLY"???
The entire party hushed at the newcomer's scolding.
Twilight: You've never been inside a library before, have you Miss Pie?
Pinkie Pie:
Twilight: You think that because I like quiet and stillness in order to acquire knowledge, I am therefore a silly and boring pony, unlike you? Does that mean that you ONLY like ponies who are constantly as LOUD as you, and ONLY like loud things, because only then they won't be BORING, in your opinion???
She trembled with restrained anger, and took advantage of the situation to finally explain herself to everypony.
Twilight: I am here on an investigative mission from Princess Celestia herself, BESIDES being the official overseer of the Summer Sun Ceremony, which will begin in eight hours and twenty minutes, and I do NOT have time for loud parties!!! Maybe AFTER the Celebration, maybe AFTER my job here is done, BUT CERTAINLY NOT BEFORE!!!
She snorted several times.
Twilight: If you like loud things, I respect that, because that's YOUR thing. MY thing is QUIET and CALM. Can...do you think you can respect that, Miss Pie? Do you think we can be friends if you DON'T respect that?
Deep breaths.
Twilight: I am not going to throw anypony out, okay? I'm not going to let anypony make me the villain here. You can continue this party for as long as you want, but all I ask is for everypony to just let me get the material I need to investigate a VERY important matter, and I'll go somewhere else to do my research? Do you think you can do that?
Pinkie Pie didn't look sad, just shocked.
Twilight: If you still want to be friends with me, we're going to have to sit down and have a long talk about mutual respect AFTER the Celebration is over. Don't get me wrong; you seem to have made friends with the whole town, so there's obviously something about you that everypony likes. I just happen to make friends in a TOTALLY different way, okay?
Twilight turned and announced to the guests: Don't stop on my account, I'll just grab some books, and I'll be out of your way.
With that, the purple unicorn mare trotted to the bookshelf, picked some books, and left the library.
How's that for an AU?
This occurred to me a few days ago, as I remembered the above scene, and I suddenly realised that Twilight didn't feel offended at all when Pinkie labelled the library, and herself by extrapolation, as "silly" and "boring".
Would Pinkie keep her distance from Twilight now?
Would Twilight be able to find all she needs to know about the EoH before the Celebration began?
What about AJ, RD, Rarity, and Fluttershy?
