Question about magic clothes. · 3:05am May 17th, 2018
More like a statement really. A musing. Ok so, at the end of Legend of Everfree, the magic transformed the girls, and gave them all sniny new outfits on top of that. And at the end of Forgotten Friendship, the same gems gave them the same transformations, only with entirely new outfits. Not even going to question where magic cave geodes learned their fashion sense, I'm just gonna assume the red one read Rarity's mind and they all agreed to just go with that.
The real question is, what do they do with all these outfits? It's kind of like all those events you go to in high school/college where they keep giving you lame book marks and tee shirts. You go here? Cool, free tee shirt. Oh, you joined a club? Free tee shirt. You showed up to this seminar? Free tee shirt. You saved the world? Free tee shirt. There was a year or two where I never had to buy a shirt. Except the EqG outfits are like, super fancy, formal gown level outfits. They sparkle! These are not clothes they can just throw on and lounge around in, or wear because they have to take out the trash or whatever. They're fancy! And they're definitely never gonna wear them again!
I mean, I could make a joke about girls buying fancy clothes and never wearing them, but honestly that stereotype is kinda bullshit. Plus, they didn't buy the clothes. But it does hold true for the M6/7! Even if they wanted to wear the same fancy outfit twice, Rarity would have a heart attack. She is contractually obliged to create at least 7 new outfits each movie so the riggers keep their jobs.
So the question is, where do they put all these sparkly outfits? Does Sunset have a closet full of them? Does Applejack sell them at Flim and Flam's pawn shop? Does Canterlot have the most well-stocked Goodwill in the area? Maybe Fluttershy uses them for bedding for the animals at the shelter (after removing all the little choking hazards of course!).
And how does Rarity feel about all this?
I just assumed they revert back to normal. Like, okay, we're done. Magic outfits can now turn back into what they were wearing before. Otherwise, it would mean that not only are they getting expensive looking outfits, but are having their regular clothes destroyed in the process. And while Rarity wouldn't mind, I'm fairly certain that Rainbow Dash would get irritated, and Applejack would definitely get annoyed at it.

You'd think that, but didn't they still have them at the end of Legend of Everfree? During the dance scene I mean? If they were going to revert I'd think they would have done it by then.
