EqD, the final frontier? · 8:28pm May 16th, 2018
Well, at the advice of one of my readers, I'll be trying my first-ever submission to Equestria Daily. I'm currently in the process of editing Pharynx Goes Monster Shopping, making minor tweaks for now, some big edits may be coming. If you like the story as is, download it now. I have noticed some little things that are objectively wrong, which I'll also tweak soon, but that'll be with all the changes in place.
Anyway, I have mixed feelings about EqD. For one, despite the attention they gave to the Filly thing, which is how I ended up getting in contact with that, they were never really informative on the matter and they dumped a lot of negativity on people who didn't deserve it. But okay, that's in the past.
On a more general note, the fan fiction submission process... I can be brief about that. I'm aiming to one day publish my own stories. I have no editors, no pre-readers, none of the professional support. I intend to do it all myself, however good or bad it ends up being. So obviously, my only chance is self-publishing. Everything I do, everything I write, it's all got the same underlying idea behind it: this is how I'm doing it, I want it to stand or fall on its own merits.
Equestria Daily is a publisher. Kind of defeats the purpose of aiming to self-publish if you end up with all the trappings of a publisher.
But, regardless, the fans have spoken. Well, one has, at least. I shall make Pharynx Goes the best I can possibly deliver, and if that best doesn't get through, well... you can guess from there, I'm sure.
Here's hoping the editing process goes smoothly. Have some epic editing music.
Cracker out.
Also yes, the other thing is still in progress. I'm having trouble getting the mood right, I don't want to publish rubbish, it will get done before I start working on anything new.
