For any readers of Growing Pains interested in knowing what my concept of older Spike actually... looked like? Here you go. Done on Autodesk Sketchbook.
Not too shabby, considering I've not worked with computer drawing for long.
He's a bit lanky and awkward, and he's still not lost all of that baby fat, but he's grown reasonably muscular. All that lifting and carrying certainly paid off. His horns, spines, and tail have all been rounded off through regular filing to avoid accidentally stabbing anything when he leans up against it because, as mentioned, he is lanky and awkward. As I mentioned in the story, he is also learning to use his fire for more complex magic. Lyra and Twilight are his primary teachers. He's gotten pretty okay at heat and light control, but he hasn't gotten very far beyond that, thus dashing Lyra's hopes of dragon magic turning her into a human. This is again, because he is llanky and I really don't have to say any more do I?
Of course, he's also semi-officially dating Rarity now because lanky and awkward he may be, but he's also as painfully sweet, devoted, and loyal as ever.
