A JD Review: MLP Season 8 Episode 6 - "Surf and/or Turf" · 10:26pm Apr 21st, 2018

The one with Silver Qui--I-I mean, the Hippogriffs.

Take a shot every time this episode says "Hippogriff".

Another great episode. Season 8 is on a winning streak! This time around, we see Twilight and the CMC traveling to Mount Aris to solve a friendship problem, of which the CMC have to solve. We're introduced to Silverstream's brother, his parents (one a Seapony, and the other a Hippogriff), and we see more of the Hippogriff society. The world-building was fantastic, and they actually answered a pretty big question I had, like how Silverstream could transform into a Seapony at will. Turns out, the Pearl was split among the kingdom, so that's really cool.

Really hope the ponies have to solve a friendship problem in the town where they met Capper. I also really did enjoy the message in this episode, where Terramar has to choose whether to live above ground or in Seaquestria. Really interesting conflict. I had a lot of fun!

Also, due to Scootaloo's crippling inability to fly, she finds comfort knowing she could somewhat grasp the idea of "flight" while swimming underwater. It's actually really, really depressing when you think about it.

Really fun episode. 9/10. What were your thoughts?

Every Episode that Scootaloo has ever been in doesn't show her being able to fly when she tries to fly. The best thing her wings are currently good for is increasing her speed while riding her scooter.

My favourite episode of the season so far. Really liked seeing mount Aris and seaquestria. I also liked the conflict Scootaloo and Sweetie Bell had. It was adorable seeing them get so excited over the two different places.

I thought the moral was really good too and could help a lot of kids in that situation.

Only problem I had with the episode was that I thought the solution was too easy. Maybe if there was a little more tension between the parents it could have been a little stronger.

Also the hipogriffs got over Twilight trying to steal the pearl pretty fast. Though I guess killing a tyrant that was terrorizing them would probably be a good way to make it up for them.
