Windows Activation Errors · 9:31pm Apr 21st, 2018
So lately, I’ve been getting an ‘activate Windows’ warning pop up past couple of weeks. The problem… It was activated.
And now it’s not.
This is the error code I get: 0xC004F074
And this is the error code I get after running the troubleshooter: 0x80070422
I’m confused and a little scared. How can I fix this?
Everything is still functional, I'm just worried.
Call Microsoft
Is it windows 10, or any older version?
I would give Microsoft Support a call. They've always been very helpful with me on issues like this.
Run Malwarebytes to see if there is any malicious programs on your computer. If that doesn't pick up anything then do the following:
I. Open up command prompt in administrative mode
II. Type in sfc /scannow
III. Wait until the scan is complete
IV. If the scan turns up anything, download a program that allows you to rummage through your PC's files and attempt to fix the problem.
That's what I would do in your case. If none of these work, I'd do what Cv and Gyvon are suggesting and contact Windows Support
Any massive change to your pc (e.g. new hardware) can cause windows to need to activate again. Anything like that happen recently?
You get it sorted? Sounds like 10 goofed or someone gave you a bunk key and it has expired that error is normally from not finding KMS in a domain.
Just do a quick search using the error code as your search term. The first hit from Google seems like a possible solution.
Or just use this link your choice
Having deactivated windows is not bad, I have it, it doesn't inhibit the functionality of the computer whatsoever. Just disables some customization features, but that is about it.
Is this still giving you trouble?
