Question about chapter lengths (6000 - 8000 okay???) · 1:51pm Apr 21st, 2018
Now I don't know if I will be able to change that anytime soon because I don't really aim for a specific length of my chapters...but I'm curious.
I ask that because, as you may know, the story that I am writing is not an original idea. There are tons of other "Pony added to Mane Six" stories out there and the few that I follow on this site or on fanfiction tend to have usually over ten thousand words per chapter.
So...Is the length of my chapters okay?
Usually, my chapters tend to be around six thousand or eight thousand words long. Now keep in mind that this mostly applies to the Slice of Life portion of my story. The "Custom Arcs" are, of course, longer and go over ten thousand words and are separated into two or three parts and that will most likely not change.
I don't want the Slice of Life parts to be connected to the "main story" so plot twists, reveals or other important things are strictly kept in the "Custom Arcs". That actually gives me very little to add to the given episodes which are why I said that I don't know if I even can make them longer if I wanted to. Take that, and the fact that I try to release a chapter every week and there is little that I can do...
Except, taking longer to release a chapter...
But I don't think you want that, right? To tell the truth, I don't want that either because it will still take a long time until my story catches up with the current events of FIM and I don't want to take even longer. I also have the feeling that, if I say a chapter every two weeks, that I will actually get a little lazy and decide to take it even slower, resulting in a six thousand chapter again...not a good idea...
I would really like to hear your opinion on that ^^.
Btw, I am in the middle of writing the next chapter and try to release it either today or tomorrow
