I have finally purchased my con pass to EFNW2018 (worlds greatest procrastinator) and all that I need to do now is make hotel reservatio-- Sold out? Ok, now all I need to do is make hotel reservations somewhere close to the con. Any suggestions?
No, I'm not going to share a room. I'm bringing the wife, and we'll be celebrating our (counts on toes) 34th anniversary on the trip.
Yes, we're driving. Probably three days up and three days back, so no, we're not going to give you a lift.
No, we're not striving to cut every dime but no, we're not going for the Hilton either. Probably arrive early Friday and leave Sunday evening. And I'm going to bring cards, because I'm horrible with names. I mean *really* horrible. I call my wife Dear for a reason.
Yes, I have relatives somewhere in the vicinity. Hopefully, we can meet them. They're nice folk.
Renting a car? Driving in one? And a final question, what do you both think of the idea of riding light rail to the con each day, understanding that you may be spending extended periods of time there?
If neither of you mind the idea, that actually opens your options up a bit.
Have you considered looking into Air BnB? Sometimes there are places close by that you might not otherwise know about. Or you might get a really good deal.

It's a shame I've yet to go to a single convention. The stars are never aligned in just the right way to ensure I have the funds and time to go.

Check google maps. There are a couple of other hotels close by, maybe less than a quarter mile.
I think 4844191 has the right idea. If LaQuinta doesn't work, try AirBnB, and if you don't find anything there, give VRBO a shot. Sometimes you may be pleasantly surprised.

As long as I'm still going, I'll be planning my wardrobe ahead of time, and I have a feeling others might be as well. I'll likely be posting the shirts I'll be wearing each day I'm there (I have a Luna 'Let your past make you better not bitter' shirt and a 'My Little Epona' shirt at the very least—can't remember the last one), but I may just put them in one post.
