    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I OVERFILL MY PLATE
Hi. If you haven't read 250 yet, I encourage you to. In the meantime, here's music:

One of my absolute favourite Laura Brehm songs I listen to regularly. Standard insanity past the jump.

I just added another few hundred words to my upcoming SRA story, it's nearly 4k now and she's not even made it to her destination. The story has morphed into a stream-of-consciousness rant, which I suppose is appropriate for where Sunset's brain is at this point in the arc -- she's no longer a depressed wreck, but she still has a lot on her mind. If you like my Burritoverse ramblings, you'll probably like this story once it's ready.

I'm not sure whether I should request prereading. I kind of zigzag it. For two years, I never sent anything to anyone. CoffeeMinion was kind enough to lend a second eye to Rarity Reveals… because I wasn't comfortable with it; but while he was doing that, I wrote Spider Queen with no prereading. He's given me some good advice on the last two SRA stories -- FYI, he's the only other person on Earth besides me right now who knows how SRA ends, pending heavy editing on my part -- but in the meantime I wrote Minor Relapse in less than six hours and posted it the same day because after a basic go-through, I felt it was fine as-is. I'll see how this story turns out and then see if it needs a hazmat crew.

Why the "Too Much On My Plate" title? Well, as I was writing 250, I realized I could probably create a Burritoverse story for Sci-Twi without Borking the continuity too much. Doesn't mean she can't meet one or more of the Dazzlings. In fact, for future stories it's vitally important that she does. There are a lot of things I want to say about Sci-Twi, but I'm afraid they'll have to wait until after I've finished SRA.

I also feel the need to write a Burrito story where Sonata gets her job at Beulah's. I know I told a reader it simply happened by authorial fiat, but if I can make an interesting narrative out of it (or even an uninteresting narrative since this is me we're talking about), I'll do it.

Before I wrote Minor Relapse, SRA was set to be 13 stories. Now it'll be 14. That doesn't count the three non-canon side stories (two of which have been published). Meanwhile, the Burritoverse may expand further as I've hit a block on Octavia's entry but found other characters to write about, as I already said.

More stuff out of chronological order: Great. Unrelated continuities smashing together to create an incoherent mess? Double-great.

WHY you lovely people read and praise the trash I write, I have no idea. Oh well.

My mother's birthday is tomorrow, plus I've a meeting with my quack. So I'll be busy.

Peace out!

Proofreading is like bed bug treatments. You know you need it when you need it. I think that your feeling comfortable with your work is probably the best determining factor for proofing I've seen in a while and will probably end up spreading it. I'll also get a hazmat suit in case you're wrong.

I... should probably read through the Burritoverse. I haven't gotten to that yet.

I also want to point out that half the fun of writing without expectations limiting your output can be in writing the most mundane thing possible into something worthy of an eyebrow raise and a quick but heavy nasal exhale. (For example, Instrucciones Para Subir una Escalera (Instructions on going up a staircase). Though maybe not for the reasons you'd think.
These blog posts continue to be engaging and very dynamic. Hope to hear more soon!

Happy Birthday to your mother. :) Take all the time you need. :D

I'm glad you think so. To me it's just kind of mind-barfing about writing and occasionally personal issues. More stream-of-consciousness than my stories that are actually stream-of-consciousness.

If you do get to the Burritoverse stories, I hope you enjoy them. They're very different in style from SRA. Y'know, many of my readers wait in anticipation for a new Sunset story from me, but others prefer my Burrito stories. No one cares about my annual Mayor Mare fics. :applecry: And I was really happy with this year's too.

Thank you. I made her a pot of Jasmine tea in the English tradition in the morning. I took her out to dinner in the evening. Good time. She opted not to indulge in alcohol out of respect for my being unable to imbibe due to my pillz (this is something I've mentioned in other blogs) -- it sucks being in your 30's yet can't drink liquor; makes me feel like a child. Granted there are many other problems with my brain that also aid that perception.

I have accomplished some more writing tonight. Not a lot because I was so busy with life, but some.

I appreciate that my readers are so patient with me, even though I'll never understand why.

I mean, this year's is already out. No point in getting anxious for the next installment that quickly now, I think. As the date grows near that it should done out, I think that'll change.

I'm nearly in my 30's and can't drink liquor either. Most I've ever had is a bit of wine at church. Also it sounds like you had a really good time together. :D

My catching up continues!

...and y'know what, the truth is I'm not exactly God's gift to editing. :derpytongue2: I'm probably better than average at catching (other people's) spelling issues, and I can articulate opinions... but the longer I do this, the more I begin to think I'm just competent enough at editing to cause a ruckus, but not quite competent enough to be a really good editor.

And I say that because, as you point out here, you've cranked out some great stuff without people looking over your shoulder. I hope to see the rest of Recovery in print at some point here, but my thoughts on it are just that--my thoughts. I hope they're useful, and I hope they haven't been an impediment.
