    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

How to write Starlight Glimmer! · 6:21pm Apr 13th, 2018

I meant to post this last night (early this morning), but apparently I was somewhat incoherent so I forgot to hit the 'post' button. Woops. BUT NOW HERE IT IS.

"Oh Tumbleweed!" you cry. "Tell us how to Write Starlight Glimmer even though you've only used her in like one story but that doesn't matter because you're the best at pony stories so any bits of wisdom you can pass along will be super useful!"

And so, I figure I'd help. Starlight Glimmer is an interesting character, in that she started as an antagonist, and has become something of a central character, albeit in her own weird little niche that's semi-adjacent to the Mane 6. So let's get started!

Step 1: Drink drinks. Vodka drinks. Maybe potato vodka? I think potato vodka is the better vodka? I'm not much of a vodka drinker so I wouldn't know, but the important thing is that you do some shots.

Step 2: Listen to this song.

Step 3: I dunno, have her hang out/do makeouts with Trixie or something? Then point and laugh at all the TrixLight (is that the proper term?) shippers who are still around from S1.

Anyway, I figure I'll go be productive now. Really.

Is good, yes?

If you mean Twilight/Trixie, I believe the accepted term is Twixie, as opposed to Startrix.

Also, you forgot welding Pinkie's impulse control and Dash's self-restraint to Twilight's phenomenal cosmic power. Important bit, that.

How to write her?

...

Nah, too easy.

Write Twilight as if she was more powerful than Twilight but never learned the magic of friendship.

Makeouts with Trixie are important. The most important. They should be items 1, 2 and 3 on that list. Maybe also 4, 5 and 6. :B

But not item 7. That's only marginally thought out rants on political systems.

Item 8, 9, and 10 is makeouts again. Just to keep a proper balance of story elements.

I think Starlight's character is handily defined by a few statements:

"Magic is the source and solution to all of life's problems!" -- Even more than Twilight, Starlight tends to turn to magic as a solution, especially when stressed or flustered. Which happens quite often, since she's rather high-strung.

"I'm trying to be a good pony. I have no idea what I'm doing!" -- Starlight's obviously not a sociopath, but I think there's undeniably something a little off with her. She tries hard to be a good friend, a good student, and overall a good pony, but the results are... varied.

"Screw the rules, we have friendship!" -- In a huge contrast to Twilight, who wholeheartedly believes in the concept of Rules, and the importance of Following Them, one of Starlight's defining traits is her willingness to ignore the laws of ponies and nature in pursuit of her goals. If Twi is quite intensely Lawful Good, post-reformed Glim-Glam is definitely on the Chaotic side of the alignment spectrum.

Add some kites, and don't forget makeouts with Trixie and/or Sunburst. Possibly both at the same time.

That was quite a song/video.

Hm, hm, yes. A good character is, after all, defined by nuance.

But what if I want to write StarlightxMaud hangouts?
