I Fucking Hate Contests · 1:14pm Apr 10th, 2018
So I signed up for this nonsense. Which is fine. Except...
Ugh. God. I might not look like the kind of person who waits for their muse, because I'm prolific-ish. But that's just because I work on 20 things at once. Something is ready to go with some degree of regularity. If I could will myself to be a serious genre writer and write submit-able things instead of fanfic, I'd be well on my way to being paid. But I wouldn't worry.
Anyway.
I picked a lame Cupcakes-clone thing from my assigned writer's otherwise strong portfolio, and have written a few thousand words of 'FlutterPie are buddy serial killers', which is honestly something I've always wanted to write.
Because I have issues.
Problem is the ending isn't making sense, and so I came up with another ending that does make sense but completely violates the themes of the first half of the story. It's fixable, but the story needs to cook more. Burble away in my subconscious until I come up with something at least semi-clever.
Yeah, the story is due on the 22nd.
So unless I hit a stroke of genius, I'm going to be stuck between publishing something sub-par, and flaking on the damn contest.
Ugh. I don't know how professional writers write to deadlines.
No. Wait. I do. And deadlines are probably why I find stupid things in otherwise brilliant novels.
ANYWAY. Writing stuff:
Wrote on both Crystal Balls and Record of Yak War. Both are progressing with startling speed, though not as fast as they would if sat down and 'sprinted' on one of them. Frankly, I'm a little tired, so while writing takes a lot of the place in my life that video games used to, I'm not really in a mood to bust something out.
I also made a story box for an erotic romance/spy thriller thing I'm in the second draft of. Its OC-based so I'm not expecting it to tear up the charts. So I'm not in a hurry with it. I really like the story, though. Also I really like making lovely story boxes; which is good because its the first thing a potential reader sees. I'm not in this writing thing for fame, but ego-boo is nice.
Right now I'm going through old projects trying to find something that I'm ready to work on. That's how I proceed.
I think I'm done with this blog post. How does expository writing work again?
As you were.
You write what you like, at your pace and only when you feel it's ready.
Your true fans and readers will appreciate it and you will be more pleased!
Just work faster.😜

Well, I mean, I love writing stories about talking animals and mythical creatures best. So writing fanfic is building an audience, right? So I can totally let myself write more of it!
If it makes you feel better, I read "So unless I hit a stroke of genitals" in there. :B

Its not that kind of story. For once.
