Daughter (Poetry) · 6:11am Apr 9th, 2018
People, not so long ago, I had a weird dream that follows something that I'm open to in future life. To say the least, the dream was unsettling and it hit me hard. I won't go into details, but I will say that I remember crying about it for a while. Yesterday, I sat down and opened up my poetry book again. Here's what I wrote -
Daughter - By Dan J. Ribe
From first glance, I fell into a love trance,
Amber eyes and gentle smile to resemble care,
Red hair that blooms like cherry blossom.
From first steps to independence, you truly are something special.
You don't need a parent's hand to guide,
For your horizons are wide as can be.
From your first words, you told me that you understood and that you knew my name,
That you looked up to me.
Baby or not, ambition drives your motor.
You have the world at your feet and you dream high and mighty.
Through thick and thin, although you may deny, my hand is always there.
You may fight me on it, but I know that you are happy and thankful.
Baby girl, you are my little girl and my world.
I love you so much.
It's a pity that I'm only dreaming that I know you.
