Wait - Book FIVE? · 3:28am Apr 8th, 2018

Yes, Book V.

The truth is, after the end of Book IV, and moving towards Phase 3 of the Berylverse (yes, that’s coming, seriously), we thought about the transition between the first series and the second series (Phase 1) and the transition between the second series and 7DSJ (Phase 2). Surprise, surprise, there wasn’t one at all.

We decided that needed to be fixed.

So, with that in mind, and three epilogue stories left in 7DSJ before The Golden Age of Apocalypse, as well as some major changes in how things are being done (seriously, who literally changes a timeline in mid-story? Has that ever been done?) we opted to do a Book V.

Things are going to go much faster than Book IV; in fact, as I write this, it’s pretty much already halfway written. We plan on sixteen – twenty chapters, ten of which you’re going to get on a daily basis once Book V launches. Additionally, Flynt is still going to put out his side story, as that will lead towards hints about the future (hence why it wasn’t merged into Book V.)

Lastly, the final reason for Book V is technical: when Blue first wrote TGAOA, it was based in mind with the original “joke chapter” concept of 7DSJ (meaning that it was nothing more than a one-shot sidestory). With that obviously now not being the case, he needed extra time to retool TGAOA for the vast changes that have been made since (as I write this, I think he’s rewritten TGAOA three times already and we’re on the fourth iteration.)

In any case, this will wrap things up and give insight as to where we go next and what it means for Sunny, Razz and the others.

So, we’ll see you all on May 5 with the first chapter of the (yes, we really mean it this time) final book of Seven Days in Sunny June.

In the meanwhile, you’ll get to see another 7DSJ sidestory: one Blue wrote that takes place during Book III.

Cool.
Lookin' forward to it.

Weird (but fun) coincidence: Free Comic Book Day is also on May 5th this year.

Wow! Now I wonder just how major all the changes you have done are to the whole universe that the next story needed now four major revisions.

So, we’ll see you all on May 5 with the first chapter of the (yes, we really mean it this time) final book of Seven Days in Sunny June.

Note to self. Put this out of mind until after infinity war.

I can say this without it being a spoiler: the first version of TGAOA had Razz visiting Earth and meeting Sunset. That took about five minutes before she went back to Equestria.

Well, when you try to save time by writing the sequel to something that isn't complete, and that something not only gets incomprehensibly much more massive and full of content, at the same time you're trying to plant seeds for future projects within the same narrative setting (TGAOA is phase 3 of the BV five phase plan), you have to keep constantly rewriting to make sure the plot elements remain aligned correctly. In addition, with all the rewriting comes story improvements to strengthen scenes by addition of more content or straight up replacement with something better. We actually paused the fourth revision shortly after realizing a minor detail introduced in Book IV would actually impact potentially innumerable minor instances within TGAOA, and thus decided we're going to finish 7DSJ proper first so we don't have to go through the entire story AGAIN just to find out some new detail we didn't account for originally will have that kind of effect AGAIN.

The fact it's taken so long to get to this point certainly helped improve the story as well as better plot out the directions the BV is going, but there are...additional aspects of the story that could only happen due to the long development time. You'll find out what these are when we get to those parts of the story.

However, due to the nature of how I've been keeping a running archive of the story's most recent chapter states, one of the original chapters actually escaped being overwritten and so remains as an artifact of TGAOA's original form when first written. While I've since replaced it with the proper chapter, the chapter 'draft' was preserved as a separate chapter within the story's file itself and I will include it as a bonus once TGAOA is complete, purely to show how drastically the story changed over time.

Aye carumba. This is what makes this story and All American Girl so good is the constant quality of the plot.
