(Story Shuffle) Trying to work out a theme to suit these cards:

This is a blog discussing what I'll put in my Story Shuffle flash fics / vignettes, which are short stories based on pony CCG cards (check that out if you enjoy short vignettes and lots of overthinking pony and CCG cards). I choose the cards randomly and try to think up characters/themes to fit em and I'll store my thoughts on that here.

Spike, Festival assistant

Hysterical recreation is from one of my least favourite eps but I think this problem is interesting. The ep reminds me a bit of Leap of Faith and Twi fails to understand Discord's humour because it is not a reasonable thing. On the other hoof the ep is more about the problem of accepting that friendships grow organically as people's feelings change and if you don't spend time with people they will move on. Kiddie friendships especially have this character since they develop so quickly.

The spike card (how cute is that card :3 ) meanwhile is just classic Spike being loyal to Twi, which I see more as a big sis devoted little brother relationship than a classic friendship. As a character trait the show and cards cover this a great deal and I've loved the Spike/Twi dynamic from the earliest days of the show.

So we have a character who is deeply devoted and a problem which is about the inability to accept that friendships develop. I feel a Teen-Twi fic with a young Spike struggling to adjust to his 'big-sis' changing to her tastes. Spike will solve the problem by remaining relevant through the power of friendship :3 It's about time I had such a pony story after the two weird angsty ones I've written so far :P
