Not Dead. Still Writing. Patience Appreciated.

The title is the TL;DR as you kids say, but I can provide a little more context.

It was commented to my great dismay that it's been a year since I updated A 14th C Friar. That... makes me sadder than I can properly express. (That's not a dig against the commenter. Honestly, I'm grateful people still care. I just feel bad it's been that long).

    Does anyone know this story?

Okay... I regret that I don't have much in the way of updates on existing stories. I assure you that I have been working on 14th C, Homecoming, and The New Blood, but my inspiration has been... fickle.

I'm going back through some stories I remember liking on this site so as to put some fuel on the creative fire and get my brain back onto the right train of thought.

Stories I Never Started, Won’t Start, Wish I Could Start

I barely have time to work on the stories I’m currently plugging away at. (“WE KNOW!” comes the shout of the Angry Mob). Worse, even when I do have time I’m often so mentally exhausted that I don’t want to write.

    You, YOU SPECIFICALLY, Matter

Coming up on May, which I am told is suicide prevention month, it’s been on my heart to talk about why you, you specifically, matter.

    The New Blood, Haitus Ends

After months of not publishing anything in any story, The New Blood wasn't the story I expected to come back with, but it's the one I managed to finish. Not that I haven't worked on A 14th Century Friar or Homecoming (I have), but New Blood for whatever reason called me back to the frontline.

Chapter Delay · 1:31am Apr 4th, 2018

Hey, folks. Just giving you a quick update on the next chapter. I had been planning on getting it to you by last Sunday as an Easter gift, and maybe even working in some reference to the season, but life intervened. Long story short, it doesn't matter how crippling your health problems are; if you can't get the medicine from the pharmacy, the doctor, or the drug company itself, then anyone who offers it to you is attempting to steal your money. The good news is that I've protected my money with the vigor of an irate dragon. The bad news is that because of a close call I lost several days of work to protecting my money, which has set me behind professionally and, in turn, set me behind on 14th Century Friar. Believe me, this actually bugs me just as much as it bugs you (probably more), but such is life. Good Lord willin' an' the crick don't rise, I'll have a new chapter by this next Sunday. Thank you all for your patience, and have a great day!

P.S. There is a difference between a 'crick' and a 'creek' beyond pronunciation. Just consult Patrick McManus.

Yeah, one's a locked vertebra or bone in your neck or elsewhere in your body, and the other is a tiny river.

Great to see you aren't dead. Hope you feel better.

I know about that pharmaceutical struggle. Type One Diabetic reporting in.

Goodness, glad to hear you saved your money (and hopefully managed to get that really important medicine too?) and I hope life can return to at least some level of normalcy soon!

I really hope you get sorted this out

if you can't get the medicine from the pharmacy, the doctor, or the drug company itself

Worst case if that those that offer medicine officially are offering wrong drugs. Like I'm in situation that current law doesn't allow them to offer anything but locally manufactured medicine if it is formally "for this" (on consideration of semi-illiterate medics) while there is better, not-life threatening or not outright poison for me. Provided that locally manufactured medicine now is produced without licenses and regard to international treaties, essentially a counterfeit, you may imagine what kind of quality they do offer. No amout of money would help isf country itsself is running an idiot ball for nearly 6 years.

My condolences. I guess for all my frustrations I'm still fortunate to live in a country where I don't have to deal with much of that.
