Music SIG Likes #FINAL :: Popcorn · 3:52am Apr 2nd, 2018

I have ascended.

I have discovered the One True Song .

All music is but pale imitations of this platonic ideal of music. From this point on it will be Popcorn 24/7 forever more.

The Call of Popcornthulhu

We live on a placid archipelago of musical genres in the midst of black seas of popcorn...

( I stopped after reaching 150 covers; there is plenty more available in the depths of Youtube)

Dear sweet good golly gumdrops, that's a lotta popcorn. :rainbowderp:

This greatly exceeded my ability to even scan all of these. I detected a couple of techno-ish versions and a trap-ish one that kept wub-teasing me, but I have to ask: is there any one of these that you'd consider a truly no-holds-barred filthy dubstep banger? :duck:

Heresy! This is the One True Song; no such thing as too much!
:coolphoto:

(I am pretty sure it is a legal requirement for all new and up and coming trance artists to cover this. These 159 songs are are only a subset of what is available on Youtube. There are dozens more available on Youtube, and hundreds listed, but not yet uploaded...)

I am not quite familiar of the specifics of that particular genre. What were some of the examples you wanted more of?

Heh heh
I believe there is a version by the Oslo String Quartet listed here.

Also, how about some panpipes courtesy of Kegye János?

or perhaps harp?

I know, it's a crazy way of describing a musical style. :derpytongue2: Here's a ref:

I guess maybe I'd characterize the genre as pretty heavy and aggressive electronica incorporating big dance beats and building to/revolving around one or a few major drops. Generally I think of it as having even heavier drops than this song has, but this was just a conveniently available example.

Hmm...
You might have some luck searching for "popcorn dubstep"

Oh my! This track has truly been covered to death!
I must agree, there has to be something to it. I've only heard it once before, here: https://youtu.be/CrtwQHOG9Ws?t=2m27s
And I immediately recognized it, despite the fact that I watched that cartoon 15 years ago, at the very least, and only once! Okay, maybe twice, 3 times tops. I cannot say for sure, because I don't remember much that far back. That was much more than half a (literal) lifetime ago!
