A long awaited return

Its been a long time Fimfiction, a little too long. Things have gotten out of hand and writing has not crossed my mind for quite a long time. Though, with things slowing down, i often find myself coming back here and looking at my old story. As much as i would love to continue, my writing style has gravely changed over the last couple years. Not only that, I've learned a few things to avoid, keep an eye out for. Though i still do like my original fic, i'm sad to say that i don't see myself ever completing it. But, instead of lamenting and focusing on the past, i would like to look towards what could be. With a bit more free time to think, I've come up with plans for a new fic to start on. Somewhat similar to The World They Once Knew, but using the material given to me by the show. So far, I've cobbled together pieces from my original fic while using materials from the series thus far.

Thus far, the premise is a bit like the original fic; Twilight and human travel Equestria in search of the rest of the mane six. That much hasn't changed, however it's everything else that is changing. The setting will be taking place in the alternate universe where Sombra has taken power in what has come to be known as the "Crystal Wars", cause if i started off one fic with a stale concept, then what's stopping me from doing so again. Secondly, magic will still be a thing in this one thus removes the need for the concept of synthetic magic, which means i'll need to find some other McGuffey to work with. Which begs the question; will human man have powers? Yes, but not to the extent of god-hood. If anything, i intend the abilities he's gifted to be limited to where he can barely keep up with the other ponies at the beginning, and almost enter the realm of alicorn status. That being said, i haven't picked out what his powers will be but i do have a few rules for what they could be. One of which is "No Crossover" powers. As much as i'd love to see him bust out a stand Jojo style or come swinging in with Spider powers, i'm gonna be keeping things to the point of public domain-ish. But with power, also comes draw-backs. I have a very firm policy when it comes to mary sues, and will see to it that i keep that sort of character to a minimum. So at least one flaw will be making it in one way or another.

Now you've probably noticed that i haven't given the human character a name yet. Well... mostly because i haven't given him one yet. The main character is going to be one i create from random; backstory, appearance, personality, it's all gonna be generated at random and i'll try to keep it unique to this fic. Doesn't mean he won't have a weird name though; i'm not perfect. Still, i want this to be a character of his own. I don't want to just take someone from some other property unless it's the MLP. I'm not making a crossover, i think i made that quite apparent.

Lastly, the rest of the rules will be listed as followed. 6000 word minimum per chapter, if not to test and push my writing ability; any more is just frosting. Next is no transformation into a pony; it's all human all the time in this one, and there won't be any transformations into a stallion mid-way through the fic... at least not permanently. Following this, just because this will be an Alternate universe fic, characters with established personalities will not be drastically changed; some may be different but at the core, they are the same ponies we all love. With these simple rules, i'm sure i can write something that can somehow come off as "descent" if i work hard on it, but i won't forget that i'm doing this for fun either. I want this to feel like a hobby rather than some sort of obligation, so i'm not gonna bother making any promises on release dates or consistent scheduling. (Especially with how my work week looks. Jesus Christ.) Just be on the look out for anything else.

Also, i won't be deleting the old story. It has accumulated quite a following and i'd feel bad if i just took it away from you all like some spoiled toddler. No, feel free to keep reading it if you wish. If things don't work out, i'll vanish for another two years and start over again. I sincerely hope you guys stick with me though, your adoration is what brought me back from my grave to begin with. So, with all that crap out of the way... i think it's time we get to work.
