Pascoite

I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

Pascoite gets bored and reviews anime, vol. 66

Some winter shows will be ending in the next couple of weeks. It's been a good season, but still waiting to see if the ones I like are concluding or will get additional seasons. But the one and only featured item this week is... Sailor Moon, after the break, since the Crystal reboot just ended.

I don't typically like to have both featured items be movies, since that doesn't provide a lot of wall-clock time of entertainment, but such is my lot this week. Features are Nimona, from last year, and Penguin Highway, from 2018. Some other decent stuff as well, plus some more YouTube short films, after the break.

    Time for an interview

FiMFic user It Is All Hell asked me to do an interview, and I assume he's going to make a series out of these. In an interesting twist, he asked me to post it on my blog rather than have him post it on his. Assuming he does more interviews, I hope he'll post a compilation of links somewhere so that people who enjoyed reading one by

Still pleasantly surprised by most of the winter shows I opted to watch (but I'm gonna die waiting on the dub of The Dangers in My Heart). But hey, there are plenty of good shows from past seasons! To wit, features are both from 2018, a random comedy series, Asobi Asobase, and a drama movie whose title sounds nothing like that's what it will be, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas.

So far, I'm rather happy with this winter season's crop of shows. Hopefully they'll keep the quality up. Features this week are a movie from the end of this summer season, Alice and Therese's Illusory Factory, and a comedy series from almost a decade ago, Barakamon. Those and some recently finished fall shows, after the break.

Recent problem with Google Drive · 8:09pm Mar 28th, 2018

I've been having a problem with Google Docs starting yesterday, and it's worth having a look to see if you are as well, since it seems there are a fair number of people affected. Here's what the symptoms are:

If I leave a comment in a document, it has my avatar, my name, and the time as usual in the box. The pull-down menu with the edit and delete functions is there as well, but neither of those do anything. I can use Ctrl-z to undo leaving the comment. Any subsequent comments I leave show my name and avatar for about a second, but then they switch to showing me as anonymous. And if I leave the document and come back, even that first comment which looked fine will have switched to anonymous. I don't get emails of replies to those. At least I can still leave comments, but depending on the situation, people may not know I'm the one doing so. This doesn't appear to happen in documents I own or in the one I've tried that has public editing enabled.

If you're having this problem, I encourage you to report it. Because it's an issue with free software, their motivation to fix it might be small, but the more people who complain, the more likely it is. There are three ways, and I'd use all three to make as much noise as possible:
1) Click the three dots at the upper right of the Chrome browser, click Help, click "Report an issue..." and fill out the form. This is for general Chrome issues, so is the least relevant.
2) When in a Google Drive page, click the gear button at the upper right, click Help, and in the menu that pops up, click "Send Feedback" at the bottom and fill out the form.
3) Go to this forum and post what symptoms you're having. It helps if you answer the general questions Jo S. has been asking to assist them in troubleshooting.

EDIT:
It's a problem with Drive, so it is a Google thing, but it's not confined to Chrome. I've tried IE and Firefox and had the same problem, and other users say the same with other browsers. It's not my computer, either, as it also happens when I use my wife's tablet.

FURTHER EDIT:
For many users, this problem seems to have mostly been fixed, but if you're still having issues, do report them. The only thing that's still broken for me is that if there was a document that incorrectly considered me anonymous when I was trying to make a direct in-text editing suggestion, it still won't let me access the document, unless I use a different browser or an incognito window.

SUPER SECRET FINAL EDIT:
Google has fixed the issue. The only remaining one is that problem where making a direct edit had prevented me from being able to access the document. If you turn off the offline sync then turn it back on, it'll correct that as well.

Encountered the same issues when editing a fic, and more besides. I'll file a report when I get home.

I had a wacked-out issue with line spacing and saving, but I cleared my cache and reset all of Chrome's settings to default (which wiped out my Google logins, twitter saved password, facebook saved password, etc.. so beware) Afterward, everything was just fine. Oh, and I had to reload Adblock Pro.

The person advising me said it shouldn't be necessary to do all that. I did disable adblock, and it didn't help.

After updating the Google Docs app on my LG phone a couple days ago, I found that entering punctuation or hitting the return key causes several seconds of lag per keystroke. I normally do a bit of writing over meals as I sit there in the university dining common, so naturally this is rather frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hrrm, I had a collaborator mention this over the weekend, and most of his comments came through as anonymous. I'll have to see if I spot this myself, though I'm still mostly a net consumer of editing help...

I haven't heard of that one. Might be worth looking through the forums to see if there's a thread for that.

Even as a consumer, you're probably still replying to comments, so it can affect you.

Egad, that's a good point.
