Yesterday, on my way to the wood shop, my neighbor flagged me down. Once I removed the foam earplugs I could understand what she was saying: "I've got some pictures to show you." I walked across the yard, and she pulled out her phone. Since she's a new grandma as of January, twins no less, you can imagine what I expected , but what I saw I could've never guessed.

Taken on two different occasions, evening on the left, morning on the right

That's my garage and driveway there. Her story for the rightmost picture is quite interesting. You can see how wary the critter's acting, with ears turned in multiple directions, hesitating. That's because that pic was taken at about 7:45 ㏂ when the high school kids are walking up the street. She said that once human and car traffic died down, the fox scampered down the drive and across the street to parts unknown.

You probably think we live in a development carved out of farmland or something, right? But we don't. Our land-locked suburb has a population density a tad over 10,000/mi2 putting us just outside the top 100 most densely populated cities in the US. Now, the nearest expanse of park is over two miles away, so we get our share of wildlife including garbage-raiding opossum, a few whitetail deer, too many skunks, red tail hawks, owls, and even turkey, but nothing like this.

So chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits beware! And the cat too I guess.

† We got to the baby pictures eventually.

Neato, cute lil critter.

That is really cool! I live in a fairly rural area and seeing deer and other critters pretty often but never a fox! That's really lucky.

My neighbor thinks, maybe wishfully, that there is a pair. Seeing little foxlets (or whatever) would max out the cuteness meter.

Like go-out-and-buy-a-lotto-ticket lucky? :rainbowlaugh: I could sure use that level of luck.

If you do win, remember your old friend!:rainbowlaugh:
BTW: baby foxes are called kits. Not sure why, because they are already put together.;)

a new friend! :3

D'awww! I live in a pretty rural area where deer are nearly as common as squirrels, but it's still pretty rare to see a fox!
