Last call for Bronycon panels · 2:22am Mar 10th, 2018

Submissions to run an event at Bronycon are due before 11:59pm EST on March 10th.
That's just under 27 hours from now.

We have a great writing track at Bronycon, but it is usually the same people panel after panel and year after year. That's because these people get electronically together well ahead of time and plan panels.

I don't know if there are dozens of writers who feel locked out of the gravy train that is the Bronycon speaking circuit (free badges!), but I do know you can't do it unless you submit a panel proposal in time. A panel is more likely to be accepted if it has several people on it, the organizer has run panels before (even if at another con), and at least one person on the panel is ShortSkirtsAndExplosions. But you can get accepted without having all of those things.

To encourage new folks to get involved in running events, I'm making an open call for anyone who wants to organize or help run an "And That's How Equestria Was Made!" event at Bronycon 2018. I'll give my blessing (for whatever that's worth), and my instruction manual and submission-form answers (probably worth more), to anybody who wants to submit a proposal to run AND GETS AT LEAST 4 OTHER PEOPLE, preferably including some who've played it before, AND POSTS HERE BY 4PM EST SATURDAY that they're submitting a proposal. Otherwise I might submit a proposal myself.

[EDIT: Super Trampoline is organizing the event for Bronycon 2018.]

I am going to submit a proposal for the event at Trotcon, so let me know if you're interested in that.

You need 7 people total, but I'll help with the demo if you don't have enough people, and maybe someone else from last time will, too. The other people who ran the event before and might be able to commit to going to Bronycon are: Applejinx, bookplayer, & GaPJaxie.

If multiple groups want to run it, try to work it out among yourselves*, since I can't stop anybody from submitting a proposal anyway.

If you want to help demonstrate the game, but not to organize it, post that; maybe somebody will ask you to join them.

.

Now that the game has been worked out to be usable, all you really need to do to prepare is have a few group Skype calls to practice.

ALSO. If you've got a photo or video of last year's run of the game, please post it here or PM me. The application form asks for "relevant links that can show us how your panel/activity went or demonstrate your experience."

I know I'm going to be submitting a couple panels later tonight!

Pascoite has actually invited me to speak at a few panels he's putting together, but I will eagerly get on board the How Equestria Was Made train. That was one of the highlights of last year.

I’ll volunteer to help organize.

Well, start organizing, then. Send out PMs / emails / smoke signals and round up some ponies.

I am going to be at BronyCon and on one of Pascoite's panels.

I can be down for That's How Equestria Was Made, but last year people wanted to do multiple run-throughs before hand and unfortunately I can't really be down for that (my schedule is difficult to plan around.)

Also I kind of sucked at it.

But if you end up desperate for people, give me a yell.

I'm stuck with my normal scheduling chaos. It's hard enough for me to know what I'm doing tomorrow, let alone (checks online) July 27-29. IF I can get there, I'll be flying this time (I-70 construction sucks!) and most likely the wife will stay behind. I'm wanting to go to Everfree Northwest too, and there's a possibility the wife will drive up there with me because it goes through Yellowstone (if you drive right) and lots of places for her to pick up rocks. My parents made the trip back in 1965 when I was three, so I have pictures but no memories of that trip, and I've got relatives in Oregon (somewhere) so that's more an expedition.

See you there?

I'm willing to be on a writing-related panel, if you decide to submit a request and are short warm bodies. But I haven't got the time to put together a proper panel proposal of any sort by the submission guideline.

Together we make five people. If y'all are down, I'm sure we between collective blog posts could find two or three more people to round things out. If y'all are cool, I can submit a proposal using Bad Horse's parameters tomorrow afternoon.

EDIT: My friend Lance is on board, so that's 6, but he's onboard with the understanding that he can be replaced if needed.

Do the thing I'm worst at? (improv)
Nope.
Good luck guys!

I'm still too mired in depression to feel like I have the right to propose a panel. Maybe next year.

4813592 GaPJaxie wants to do it. That's good, bcoz he's done it before, and he'll already have a badge, and the con only gives out a max of, I think, 4 badges per event.

I'm unclear on whether 4813585 wants to do That's How Equestria...

4813763
Yeah, I can do that, so long as it isn't at some unreasonable time.

4813699
:s Hang in there. :yay:

4813592
I'm available if you need me. I was planning to do it last year, then I couldn't make the con (that shouldn't happen again this year).

4813799 Talk to bookplayer & Super Trampoline. bp is hesitant about it.

4813592
I'm in if you need me, if you don't need me (I see a lot of folks expressing some level of interest) even better. PM me if you're putting me down.

I've always wondered how the panelists coordinated.

BTW I just want to make clear I submitted the panel several hours ago.

Ah, yes, panels, panels, we have those. We have lots of those.
Mwahahahaha :pinkiecrazy:

I've submitted the second form I needed to submit, 52 minutes ahead of the deadline!
