Dead Space 3 Halfway Point Impressions · 5:04pm Mar 7th, 2018
I'm at Chapter 11 in Dead Space 3. The combat and weapon building have remained consistently tense and fun. The shotgun is amazing.
Good thing too, because the story is mediocre and has never really dragged me in. I'm most intrigued by what happened on this planet 200 years ago rather than Isaac and company's predicament here and now.
And dear sweet Celestia, the love triangle subplot has reached "Punch A Baby" levels of cringeworthy. Good god, Visceral.
I mean, you fuckers are stuck on an undead-infested ice cube with religious fanatics gunning for you. Should you REALLY be worried about this right now?
Sadly, they don't reveal much about what happened to the planet. Most of it I had to read off of wiki's and piece together from logs. It 'is' a bit of a mind blown, at least in my opinion.
Too bad you won’t get any kind of decent closure from the game on a lot of things. All because EA shutdown/shuttered Visceral.

read Viscerals original plan for Dead Space 3. EA is the main reason for the poor story and focus on micro-transactions. Originally Isaac was to explore the origins of the Marker and player two was a warped reflection of his personality. Both players would experience different insanity events and would have to talk each other threw each scenario making teem work a core mechanic. EA decided that that was too complex of an idea for us poor stooped gamer's and we actually wanted what all the other shooter gave us.
