A tiny preview (It is a song) · 5:39am Mar 6th, 2018
I know I said I would never attempt to write another song and/or poem in Myths again. I am terrible at them, relying heavily on using an existing song or poem as a framework for tempo, patterning, and pretty much everything. But I can't seem to help myself. While working on Chapter 13 a song just naturally popped into the story organically. And then it happened again with Chapter 14...
Songs are part of the fiber of My Little Pony, and something I want to work in when appropriate. I'm also a bit too excited for them not to share. There is nothing particularly spoilerish in nature for the first one, besides indicating that--perhaps--there is going to be a Celestia centered portion to the chapter.
The song I used for the first one is Blackmores Night's 'Loreley'. I'm still working on a verse in the middle, but this is what I have so far.
Merely we work away,
Though the clouds be growing thick,
skies turning an ugly grey,
Golden is the day.
Prophecy foretold,
Praises sung to us all,
Oh, She named her,
‘Celestia’,
Protector of us all.
Oh, the legends so bright,
Defender of the light,
Magic and mystery,
Coat a glowing white.
Mane of roiling, flowing flame,
Quite a vision to behold,
Many hearts she did claim,
Lovely Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong to,
Her Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong to,
Her Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong,
To Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong to,
Her Celestia.
<<This is where I am working on another verse... Though, on reflection, it might be unneeded.>>
Oh, the song of Celestia,
Glowing through the heart,
Better not turn away,
Kind Celestia.
When she cries, “Have no fear,
Until the end of time.”
You will e’er be protected,
By Her Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong,
To Celestia.
And the skies would weep,
And many dreams she’d keep,
And all the days belong,
To Celestia.
The second song is, sadly, not in a state fit for sharing. It would also be massively spoiler-ific in nature. About the only portion I think is sharable, and that I feel confident will remain close to its present state, is the very opening, which is sung by a low chorus of whispers that steadily grows.
Flee this place, oh, flee this place,
Flee this place, oh, flee this place.
The Lord o’er the Dead has come.
Flee this place, oh, flee this place,
Flee this place, oh, flee this place.
Or join us all and one.
I've been having a bit more difficulty with the remainder of the song, and thinking the few verses I've put together need scraping. I'm trying hard to be more original with it, but my poor ability with lyrics is raising its ugly head.
I think I might start doing more blogs again on what I am working on for upcoming chapters and stories. I miss feeling like I'm involved with a community with this story, rather than keeping a wall up.
