IN WHICH I STEPPED OUT OF MY BUBBLE
As I've mentioned a few times on this blog, I'm a fan of the Japanese metal-Idol fusion band Babymetal. Tickets for their upcoming USA tour went on sale this morning and, after a snafu that kept me from getting best seats, snagged tickets to two shows -- one 4hrs from my home, the other 6hrs. That's kept me from writing. Anyway, shall we?
The concerts happen near the beginning of May. I rarely get excited about anything, but I'm kind of excited about this. It's the first actual trip for pleasure I've taken in about a decade -- every other time I've left town, it's been for work, a working vacation, or a funeral.
Since it's highly unlikely I'll have Cream-Puff ready to go by the next time I feel like writing a blogpost, though I'll get back to work on it later tonight, I think I'll use the space of Blogpost #235 to remind readers of something very important in the setup of all my EQG stories.
This came about because a reader asked me if, once I finished the Recovery Arc, I ever planned to write in its universe again. That's not as easy an answer as you'd think because I separate Universe from Continuity. For example: The Recovery Arc and Burritoverse were originally written as separate continuities until -- thanks to an unintentional push from CoffeeMinion -- I decided to fuse them and decree both arcs were happening in the same space at the same time with a story that straddled both. Wasn't really that difficult a move, to be honest, as there are few if any contradictions between the arcs.
I already know what I'm going to do after I finish and polish the Recovery Arc -- slow going but it will happen, hopefully before I leave for the first concert in a little over two months; If I'm really driven (not bloody likely but let's pretend), I'll have finished the last two or three Burritoverse stories as well. *ahem* I will clean up and post my Historical Adventure story that has been sitting on my hard drive and now Gdocs for over two years. I might write a cute CMC story where they decide to try and emulate Babymetal.
Most importantly, I'm going to reset the continuity of my EQG-verse, such that everything after Sasha didn't happen. THAT's why it's numbered Zero.
There was no room in the timespan of the Recovery Arc to fit Anon-A-Miss. As I mentioned a few months ago, I took that 48-page story and rewrote it from the ground up to fix its glaring plot-holes. I did that by removing Twilight completely and explicitly setting it between EQG1 and EQG2 as it was originally intended to be. However, because some 75% of the spoken dialogue is still Ted Anderson's, I'm not sure it's kosher to actually try and publish it here. I could really really use some advice on this one. If I can't put it up legit, I'll post all twelve chapters here on this blog like I did with the synopses of my uncompleted Pinkamena fic.
My rewrite of Anon-A-Miss is important because it forms the backbone of the last two big stories I will ever write for this site, which have been festering in my head since mid-2015. They take place one after the other, and both feature Sunset and one other primary character. I've started work on the first and have had its first three chapters completed for months; the second is almost completely outlined -- I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the murder is going to work.
Well, that's all the news that isn't. I'm sure I'll come up with a lot more nothing later.
Peace out!
Ha! We were just talking about Babymetal, too. Crazy.
They are definitely a unique blend of styles, that’s for sure.
I hope you have fun!
