    MLP: TNG

I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

    Revisiting the Final Season

A few months ago, I rewatched Season 9, and I liked it even better than the first time I saw it. There were still two episodes that I didn't care for: “3, 2, 1, Greaaat” and “Trivial Pursuit.” With both of those episodes, I went into them with the mindset that I would skip to the next episode when they started to annoy me. I only made it a few minutes into each episode.

    Bereavement

It's been awhile since I've posted any updates. Things happened one after another to make me lose interest in multicolored ponies. First the show ended, and then real world problems started happening. Then came the worst case scenario – I lost my father in February of this year.

    Random update

I haven't been on this site as much as I use to because of real life distractions. Not all of the distractions have been good, but the good ones are truly amazing.

Pony Life is a regression to Season One

Maybe it's just because the MLP stop-motion shorts lowered my expectations, but so far I think Pony Life is okay. I wouldn't call it good, but at least it doesn't directly insult older fans the way Thundercats Roar does (or so I've heard). I enjoy Pony Life's animation style enough to recommend watching five minutes of it. Plus, there is actual dialog spoken by the same VA's from FiM, and they

Another earth pony sorceress · 11:35pm Feb 17th, 2018

Warning: This blog post contains mild spoilers for the new Equestria Girls special.

"Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship" includes a surprising bit of world building for Equestria. First of all, Clover the Clever is identified as male. Now I'll have to go back and re-re-re-watch "Hearths Warming Eve" to see if any pronoun was ever used for this Founder. I assumed that Clover was female because the name sounds feminine to me. Oh well. Of more interest is that Clover once defeated an evil sorceress who used a mystical stone to steal ponies' memories. In the scroll artwork she appears to be an earth pony. Now, to play devil's advocate, Clover's horn is not shown in the drawing either. But he's wearing a hood that covers his forehead, thus covering his horn. Nameless sorceress has no headdress, so we can see her smooth forehead. So, I really hope this is a powerful earth pony villain and not a stylistic choice for a generic pony that could turn out to look like anything.

Earth ponies using mind magic actually goes against my headcanon . . . But the sorceress does have a magical stone to give her this special ability. It's probably not something earth ponies can do on their own, but any pony can gain unique magical abilities with the right enchanted item.

You know what? I'm just going to assume that nameless sorceress is an earth pony unless the show explicitly states otherwise.

It's also worth noting that Wallflower Blush, the special's main antagonist, loves to garden and seems like her Equestrian counterpart would most likely be an earth pony. This isn't a huge spoiler since I guessed who the real villain was early on, but I'm still using a spoiler tag just in case.

As Maud said, with the right stone, one could rule Equestria. Or erase oneself from its awareness, as the case may be.

In any case, hadn't noticed the sorceress's unadorned forehead until now. I thought you were just talking about Wallflower. Definitely thought-provoking. (And thank goodness I have time to change that particular type line to Pony Wizard...)

Glad I could help with the card!

Speaking of Maud, I guess she's still in high school. I had thought maybe she was an alumnus who just came back to help with the coal miner play, assuming her part was even in the main timeline.
