Equestria Girls Headcanon Nonsense: Sunset Shimmer · 7:54pm Feb 14th, 2018
So yeah, occasionally I have these little thought experiments about the characters and try to answer a few questions about them that the show either hasn't answered or clearly has no intentions of answering. I figured I'd share some.
Sunset Shimmer
Age: 16-17 (in human years), 22-25 (in pony years)
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual... sort of. While I see Sunset as being bi, given Equestria's hugely imbalanced mare-to-stallion ratio, and despite her relationship with Flash Sentry, I also think Sunset would still be a little weirded out by getting physically intimate with someone in the human world (unless it's for a cheap gag. See: "Sunset Sexytimes") as I think she still considers herself a pony, no matter how native she's gone during her time in the human world.
Vehicle: While I know everybody loves to give Sunset a motorcycle (usually a top of the line Harley or street bike), the fact is, looking at Sunset's apartment in "Monday Blues," there's no way in hell she can actually afford a vehicle and insurance. Even with her job at the sushi place and any gold and gems she may have brought back from Equestria, it's unlikely she'd still have enough to buy a car or a bike and keep up the maintenance and insurance on it. Also, the short "Driving Miss Shimmer" has shown that Sunset has just barely gotten her driver's license. So, as far as I'm concerned, for right now, Sunset walks, gets rides from one of her friends, or takes public transit.
Income: Sunset has a part time job at the sushi place in the mall. She also has a dwindling stash of bits and gems she brought through on her second trip through the portal (See my timeline post). She has various contacts on the bad side of town to help her convert the gems and gold to cash. (More on that in a future story)
Music: Sunset likes metal. All kinds of metal. As well as hard rock and punk. On the guilty pleasure side, she also likes soundtracks from musicals. (She may or may not have played the soundtrack from "The Greatest Showman" on loop for a solid week, assuming we want to include real world elements here.)
Entertainment: Video games, duh. Rise of Tirek is her favorite. She likes movies as well. She doesn't watch that much TV, as cable is expensive. So she just pays for internet and streams WebFlicks and ViewTube through her console. She also reads, although not as voraciously as Twilight, and again on the guilty pleasure side, she and Rarity trade trashy romance novels every so often. (They go out of their way to keep Sunset's appreciation of these books away from Rainbow Dash.)
Other: In order to survive when she first came through, Sunset cultivated a variety of less than legal skills, learned from her contacts on the bad side of town. These include but may not be limited to: Lockpicking, breaking and entering, pickpocketing, sleight of hand, and low level con games. (Her three card monte game was legendary among the street criminals of Canterlot City for a while.) In relation to this, Sunset has a set of lock picks and, while she's careful never to display it in public, a fairly high quality pocket knife she used to keep on her person at all times, but has recently stopped carrying since turning herself around.

in Driving Miss shimmer Sunset gets her license but as far as I can tell she doesn't own a car yet so she would more than likely get the license to buy stuff that requires such a thing. Such as R rated movies, novels, and other such items.
And I’m guessing after the events of Repercussions she will start carrying the knife again.
