    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

Submissions Are Closed, so Call Me a Soccer Mom: Now it's Time to Judge You · 5:17pm Feb 10th, 2018

And so, the final number of entries is forty-seven.

Some of you might notice that by the time the deadline had passed there were only forty-six stories in the group, and some hours later the last one was added -- this is no mistake. The last story was submitted before the deadline, but wasn't approved until some hours later. Fortunately, our very own judge Majin Syeekoh is also a story approver, so we can just check when the thing was submitted and call it a day.

So that's the final tally, and now judging begins. Results will be out sooner rather than later, but at the moment I can't make any promises, so I won't.

Also, as I'm writing this blog post, literally every story in the Featured Box (not counting updates) is an entry for this contest. So, y'know, that's a success. I'm the first person I know of who was able to take over Fimfic like this by proxy.

Wooo.

Go meee.

Anyway, so that's that. Once the results are out, I'll blog about it in here, so watch out for that. In the meantime, normal blogs will resume (I have a job now, so I have a couple random stories to share, if I ever feel the need. I'm also working on a new romance blog, so that'll be neat).

Cheers, and -- for the last time -- best of lucks with the contest, guys. You've played your part; now it's our turn.

Gimme dat fic list, bro, Imma do a review. :B Someday.

Best of luck to everyone, it's a shame it was only a month or maybe I could have made an attempt. Such a shame but best of luck to the judges with judging and to the many writers that gave it their all. xD. :pinkiehappy:

Yeah, I almost finished my story, but my heart just wasn't in it the closer the deadline came. Grats to those that had the gusto to finish, and let's see what wonders (and horrors) this contest has wrought!

Woo! Time for me to lose this contest!

Seriously, I thought I had a good chance, but after reading some of the stories in this thing? Nah. I've been outclassed, and I'm loving it. Best of luck to all contestants!

If we're counting fictional characters, there was that one time right after Gauntlet of Fire aired when the entire mature feature box was nothing but Ember porn. So she kinda took it over.

Great; I am officially as sexy as that one dragon everybody wants to fuck.

Still a win.

I don't know that spreading your comedy contest everywhere like an avalanche of dragon porn necessarily makes you sexy.

I mean, you are, but that's an unrelated matter as far as I can tell.

I would have submitted my fic in time if I didn't start another draft.... All well, I'm probably going to release it like, a month from now anyway.

All hail Aragon, Lord of Laughter

Just check the contest folder.

Even though my entry won't win anything, I'm glad to have served as a soldier under Aragon's Spanish Inquisition. :trollestia:

First the feature box, then the entire site.

You and Aragón live on different continents, but I might be able to help Majin move.

I choose the soul, option, please...

Due to a number of factors, not the least of which is the fact that my story just isn't that funny, I missed the deadline. Ah well. Best of luck to the entrants!

Good luck to everyone involved!
Also, I have two brief questions:
First, is there any idea of how long the judging period will be before the results are revealed? I'm not asking for a countdown clock, just a loose idea of if I should check back in daily, weekly, or monthly.

Secondly, will the stories that place be the only ones rewarded/mentioned, or will there also be an honorable mention "you-don't-get-a-prize-but-you-really-hit-one-of-the-judges'-funny-bones-so-here's-a-shoutout" sort of thing? Cause I could imagine there being at least a few stories that are comedy gold, but fail miserably on the technical side of writing.

Also, thanks for organizing and running everything. It was great fun!

[Edit] Or, I now realize, I could just follow you and get the updated results whenever it happens to happen.

I'll put this here, since it's the most recent thread for the contest, but who knows if all the relevant entrants will see it.

Equestria Daily has started receiving some of these stories as submissions for posting. Our policy is not to post any contest entries until the contest is over, so just be prepared to wait until then, at the soonest.

Woot! Thanks for running this.

And congratulations on the Featurebox lockout! I tried to do my part, but only got as far as Popular Stories.

4795464
As one of the EQD submitters, that's actually good to know. Thank you!

4795990
You were in the filter-on feature box for several days.

We don't always notice whether story submissions are part of a contest, but when we do, we hold off on them for a few reasons:
1. We don't want people to use us as a source of feedback, particularly since not all entrants would even know that was possible.
2. We don't want authors potentially running afoul of the contest rules by using any feedback to revise after the deadline, which could also result in different judges seeing different versions of the story, among other problems.
3. We don't want any feedback or verdicts having any effect on judging.

I don't think any of those would happen in this case, but it's a uniform policy.

I'm going to lose, I know this and have come to terms with it. At the least, I feel confident about my story and it's semi-level of originality and am glad for challenging myself with it. Besides, since one of the judges is a story approver, they might get some chuckles from it.

Where can I find a list of the entries?

4796205
I appreciate the explanation and am on board with the reasoning.

4796370
It's all the stories in the "Contest Entries" folder of the associated group.

tfw you met the deadline by fifteen minutes.

I wasn't part of this, yet I got some laughs from it.
Screw the system, I ended winning up something at the end :pinkiecrazy:
