I Need To Make Something Clear

I know I've been very absent lately but I still give advice to writers now and again as PMs. Lately there's been a problem which I need to remedy.

    My OCs are my own.
Characters such as Cascadius, Colonel Peregrine, Nancy, Blue Murder, Tybalt, Shadowplay, Tungsten and others.

    Putting My Webcomic Out There

Hi guys. Just to show you what I've been working on all this time.
Deviantart and Tumblr are a bit...let's say shaky right now in terms of putting your art out there and I've been looking for more specialised sites for my webcomic.
So I've finally got a Tapas page.
    The Tale Of Cao Aman

    27 Today And Some News

Hi everybody. Sorry I've been so distant lately.
Twenty-Seven years old today...and I'm told I still look seventeen. Don't ask me what my secret is, I'm just as puzzled, but not complaining.

So I've Heard About The Rings Of Power

So I'm actually quite looking forward to The Rings Of Power, the soon-to-be cinematic series based on Tolkien's Middle-Earth lore. The Lord of the Rings is probably my favourite film trilogy and, while it's debated to this day, I really enjoyed The Hobbit series.
And there's something I feel I need to say...

Boulette's Society · 11:40pm Feb 8th, 2018

Okay, guys. There's something I'd like to discus. And I'd like everyone to keep open-minded about it.

I am generally a leftist when it comes to politics but I try to keep it to matters that actually demand political statements.
Fimfics are not one of them.
Some of you may have noticed Royal Flush's resemblance to...President You-Know-Who.
But I do not want to turn the Boulette storyline into a left-wing diatribe and alienate people.
We're all entitled to our political opinions.
I'm not even American so I have little place in sticking my oar in as the saying goes.
Bias is never good no matter what side it tilts.

So, to balance the scales, I intend on basing the ideals of the Forebearers Party, the de-facto ruling government of Boulette, and Carcassonne, their representative, on centre-right conservative politicians.
I can name a few who I feel did a very good job and my knowledge isn't even extensive.
The Duke of Wellington, Benjamin Disraeli and Winston Churchill to name three and they're heroes of mine!
I do not intend to demonise the Republican Party or the Conservative Party, nor any right-wing group.
In Intriguing Carcassonne mentions her stances are reducing poverty, fighting corruption and reducing the need for imported goods in Canterlot.
This things are hardly evil.
If anyone would like to make suggestions on such ideals, feel free but let's keep them civil.

It is not right-wing ideals or left-wing that damage society.
It's the far side of either wing. Extremism of any ideal will cause chaos.

So, a lesson for all creators of fiction when making political statements.

Seems like a reasonable policy.
(And I'm totally not the kind of author who's political views leak into stories... honest, guv).

Oh I see, I'll keep this in mind when I'm writing some politics in fiction. Ah, this is weird, I'm kinda conflicted, I live in the Asian equivalent of the Wild Wild West. When our president was elected, various people world wide said either in contempt or approval, "you get the president you deserve," meanwhile from across the northern hemisphere that guy came into power, armed with his Samsung mobile he started blasting tweets, and so the phrase was flung back as missiles directed at the west.

Rody D was a man of vision, he wanted to clean up his country of druggies and pigs, ending corruption in the easiest way possible: encourage vigilantism. Blessed with high charisma, the masses went along with him, as the purges went on innocents started getting snuffed along, some are still in denial, while some are starting to notice this may not be a good idea. Gee, this is starting to sound like one of my grim dark novels....

When Donald Duck came to the Wild Wild West, activists were hoping for a speech of condemnation, instead the two hit off like a pair of lost lovers. Forging their friendship in true BFF ritual, one told him military secrets about North Korea and invited him to the White House; while the other praised him for standing up to bullies and serenading him in the ASEAN summit (I'm not making this up). You can tell the cameras were cutting away from the jaw drops.

I guess when writing politics in fiction, what matters is intent and intensity, cause sometimes you gotta take risks in order to say something meaningful, while playing it safe will water it down, anything controversial is subjected to this as well. Your values as the author is what brings to light these issues, but it has to be tide to the political theme. If your merely referencing certain aspects, then I don't think politics is a big deal because it's not the thematic point, but sets the realism of the world building by borrowing real life events. For something controversial to have an impact, you have to tie it to the moral of the story or the central theme.

I get that.
Certainly sounds rather steep.
Still, I don't want to portray an entire political spectrum as 'Always in the wrong'
Boulette are different ponies with different attitudes and opinions.
Equestria is allowed to counter with its own but not overrule it entirely.

I understand there are grey areas to the world building. The story is not about political beliefs anyway, the main theme (I'm assuming) will be about friendship and unity. In the end, I don't think Chancellor Pudding Head intends to assimilate mentalities, but rather it's about coming in terms that people are different, and if lead properly society can change. Nelson Mandela to Hitler have done this.

I'm still scanning for the big picture in your story.
