Lost my Job · 8:24pm Feb 8th, 2018

A job I really loved, really was enthusiastic about. A job I actually had schooling for. And I couldn't hack it.

*sigh* I feel lost and confused now. Every time, I'm back to square one. And no closer to making money by writing. And I would... But something holds me back, and I don't know what.

So what do I do?

Wow that harsh, my advise, which I'm sure you already have been told is to take a few days for yourself and just relax and try and let the stress and problems go just for those days and afterwards perhaps talk with someone, a close friend or family member about what you want to do in the future. it doesn't even matter if they cannot give an answer, sometimes you just need to talk at someone.

TMH

That really sucks man. I'd say as far as writing goes try something really different from what you normally write and look for new inspirations, sometimes the reason you can't write or write to the level you want is because you're writing about the wrong things.

Hope things work out for you!

I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask if you know why you were let go. Was there a specific reason or was it the last hired first fired sort of thing.

They kept changing the standards of how to do my job and log my timesheet, and I couldn't keep up.

To be honest, it sounds like laboral harrassment - they did it to me 'while being a studying practitioner', with no pay involved. The same things as you described.

Screw that job - you're better off looking someplace else to do what you studied for. They probably wanted the owner's pretty boy to work at your post instead.

Maybe try a career Counselor? That helped my brother in law.

What was the job? Was it your first career?

Look up Jordan Peterson on Youtube. I think you might get a lot of good things from him.

His "Maps of Meaning" series helped me when I was adrift in the world. Gives solid advice on how to venture out into the world, slay the dragon, and save your father from the belly of the whale.

All of his stuff is great.

That's rough. As others had said, make sure you have someone to vent to and take some time to process this. I know it hurts a lot, and I do hope you manage to find another path. You never actually fail unless you give up.

There are a lot of people rooting for you here.

Well, that sounds like rank bullshit. I'm legit sorry you lost it.

Been there, my dude. Hell, I LIVE there.

I’ll light a candle for you and pray.

If I may ask, what is your major?

Take a deep breath and get your mind together. Frankly it sounds like you're in a rut. It happens to everyone. Take a few steps back and maybe a little break so you can get your conference back

You an' me both, pal. Wanting to write but can't seem to get motivated, I mean.

That sounds like fishy BS to me. The kind of BS that formal complaints ought to be filed over. Sounds like someone wanted you gone and manufactured a reason. They probably wanted to get a friend or family member hired in your stead. Any possibility of appealing to a higher-up HR person?

I gotta agree with the rest. You had an enemy higher up. It is uncomfortably common pretty much everywhere. If you can appeal this with HR, probably try. Might consider consulting a lawyer, but I am uncertain what can really be done unless you have some kind of documentation.

In the meantime, as horrible as it is, you need to find something that can at least pay the bills. Ideally in a position that takes advantage of your education and experience, but you may need a stopgap in the meantime. Don't forget to file for unemployment insurance as well.
