Fanfiction Reading Update #176 · 4:55am Feb 6th, 2018

There’s some slim pickings for this reading update, despite a two month gap. That’s partly because of the holidays, but mainly because of my mom’s stubborn refusal not to sleep in the living room—making fanfic reading (and writing) enormously difficult for me and slowing things to a glacial crawl.

The Lunar Rebellion’s penultimate chapter details the suprisingly bloodless capture of Cloudsdale as the story nearly completes its winddown. Such a battle could have easily gone on for several chapters, making me wonder if the author’s just as weary of the war as the characters are.

Make way for Possible Trackings.

No One to Remember is tracked for providing a decent mystery and consistent updates, even though it does feel too similar to the TNG episode it's based on. Here's hoping the payoff is better than the TNG warp bubble and creepy perv Traveler.

Filia Noctis is tracked for setting up a total AU take on Twidash, something that's rarely seen in the shipping fleet. Here's hoping it doesn't die after three chapters.

Rip Van Glimmer is cut after two chapters. There's nothing really wrong with the story, it's just not the style of “distant future” that I enjoy. I prefer the more adventurey type of fics like Glim or Sparkle Day to the slice of life/personal story that's being presented here.

Hear, ye. Hear ye. The Honorable Oneshots presiding.

Historical Accuracy sails the USS Twiluna under an ancient erotic role playing flag while also dishing out that nice end-of-story joke all comedy oneshots need.

Let It Rayne on Christmas Day receives a very rare downvote for being a terrible story, complete with bad protagonist, OOC canon characters, and a shit plot. I don’t care if it’s an ironic shitpost or not. Ironic shitposting is still shitposting and is still robbing a slot on the featured box that could go to a far more deserving story.

And that's all I read for the month.

# of story updates remaining: 624.

# of “Read Later” stories remaining: 1,210.

Funnily enough, I'm now intrigued by that last one. :V
