Another year, more of the same...

It seems my various distractions lately have even prevented me from making my annual blog post on the day I had intended to. This past year, while I did successfully complete one more chapter on my main story (and even managed to do it before the year was halfway over as I had really hoped for), that was unfortunately all I was able to deliver to show my efforts. Kind of strange to look back and

Somehow, this became a lost year...

It has now been a full year since my last blog post, and how much progress did I make in my LEGO Equestria Girls series since then? Well, after finishing one of the side stories back in April, I have sadly made virtually no further progress at all. Why? To be honest, I'm struggling to figure that out, myself.

End of the year... and very little progress done...

Well, what can I say? My accomplishments this year have been nowhere even close to what I had promised. Had I been able to stick to my intended plan, I would've finished the tenth main story months ago, would've finished probably six or seven side stories, and would now be preparing to start the eleventh main story. But the sad reality of what I had actually managed to accomplish is not even

Halfway through the year, and my latest story is not even halfway done...

It is now the end of June, the halfway point of the year. Six months ago, I had promised that I would be able to maintain my self-imposed schedule of completing and posting a new chapter once every two weeks, despite delaying the start of the tenth main story a month later than I had originally intended. As I'm sure you all have noticed, that promise has since gone flying out the window, and I

    The tenth story has begun

I have now just published and submitted the start of my next story, LEGO Equestria Girls 10. Well, everyone, it's finally here. The very first LEGO Equestria Girls story not based on any official content, and therefore consists almost entirely of my own original ideas.

The fifth story has begun · 10:00pm Feb 5th, 2018

I have now just published and submitted the start of my next story, LEGO Equestria Girls 5. Already, I'm very sure that this story will be shorter than the other main stories, both in word count and in number of chapters. Just as well, since I won't exactly have a lot of time to spend on writing, even though I still intend to stick to my usual schedule of posting a new chapter once every two weeks.

Since this is the first time I'm publishing a new story since the recent site updates, I will admit that I had some uncertainties, but I'm glad that everything seems to be working out just fine. When it comes to adding tags, rather than the old way of just picking from a list, what you have to do now is start typing in the name of tag you want and you can just select it from a drop-down list, so I think this new method for adding tags works best for what is after all an ever increasing list. Also, I'm very glad that copying text into the chapter no longer puts double spaces between every single paragraph that I then have to manually remove one at a time, so that'll save me a lot of time in terms of getting a new chapter ready to publish.

I got a few things finished up and taken care of by the end of last year, so for this year (in addition to my usual writing for this series), I'll be spending some of my time doing something I've been looking forward to for quite a while: playing every Lego video game (at least the ones I can get on my Steam account) and reaching 100% completion on each of them at least once. I bring this up here because I've previously included some details into some of my stories that were inspired by things I've seen in the few Lego games I had already played (or at least seen videos of), so there's always a chance that I might get some new ideas from some of these other games. I'll be sure to mention the source of such ideas, if I decide to use them in certain future stories.

You may recall in my previous blog that I had an idea for a more epic story to include in my series and was planning to to have it be the sixth story. However, I am once again postponing it since it turns out there will indeed be a longer Equestria Girls special this year and not just a bunch of shorts. In fact, even though the upcoming Equestria Girls special is still two weeks away, the preview has been enough to give me some different ideas for next year that I think could be interesting. At this rate, I've pretty much accepted the possibility that my completely original story idea for this series might very well end up being saved for the finale. I'm sure at least some of you have already heard rumors that the main show (Friendship is Magic) is due to end in a few years, which leads me to believe the same will eventually apply to Equestria Girls (though certainly not in the foreseeable future at this point). Therefore, even though I may have to wait a few more years, I'm still hopeful that I'll eventually get a chance to use my original idea.

I'd also like to mention that it was only a few days ago that I finally got an opportunity to see the My Little Pony Movie. I thought it was rather okay, but soon after seeing it, I couldn't help but speculate what it might be like if that movie could be adapted into a Lego video game. Sure, it's a rather crazy idea that will almost certainly never happen for real, but I can't help but keep thinking of what such a thing might actually be like. I had already finished writing what I could on my previous speculation of having My Little Pony included in Lego Dimensions, so perhaps I could try something similar with this "My Little Pony Movie, Lego Video Game Edition" idea. (By that, I would try writing a series of summaries in script format, and then send them to someone who might be interested in turning them into a full story that could be accepted on this site.)

I think that covers everything I can think of for now. I hope everyone will enjoy reading LEGO Equestria Girls 5.
