How to Deal With an Account Made by a You Who Hasn't Existed for Seven Years

Today is my seven year anniversary of joining this site. While I haven't posted on here in a while and am conspicuously not looking at any specific story I keep telling myself I'll get back to one day, I have still been somewhat active in reading on this site. The more time that's gone on, though, the stranger it is to look at the stories I have here, and not just because one of those stories is

This Blog is About The Immortal's Burden

tl;dr up front: No, it isn't getting a sequel unless I get an idea I feel is good enough to follow it up.

So I've seen some comments asking me to make a sequel for The Immortal's Burden, and they have a couple upvotes, so it seems like at least a few people want this. I'm sorry to bear bad news, but that's probably not going to happen for a couple reasons.

What's Half an Inch Long and Stuck in My Root Canal?

Gosh, it's been an interesting two weeks.

In terms of good news, I got a chapter of Hourglass posted, cementing myself into a monthly update schedule! I don't think I've ever been this proud to be this pathetic. Hopefully when the story picks up, so will my schedule. Hopefully. Fingers crossed.

Like Sands Through The Hourglass, This Is My Mental State

Okay, so at the start of November I started posting my story Hourglass for NaNoWriMo. I already had some chapters written when I published the story so I could have a buffer in case I missed some writing in my planned every-other day schedule. I had preplanned individual chapters far ahead to reduce time in brainstorming and writing.

What's Half an Inch Long and Stuck in My Root Canal? · 6:50am Feb 4th, 2018

Also, Global Game Jame happened near me and I ended up pitching a video game that I helped make with some lovely lovely people who knew how to actually do shit. It's currently a little bit broken, by which I mean that the entire mechanic for getting the story is currently not working. Oops. However if you wanna check out the currently working main menu screen and logo I made and the great original soundtrack by a wizard named James, go see Send Only Memories! I promise I'll update this when we get the game working completely.

So that was all super exciting and nice and fun except for the excruciating tooth pain. Did I forget to mention that? I can tell you I didn't forget it at the time.

As context for my later statement, I am not a wimp when it comes to oral pain. When I was younger I used to use my metal bedpost to remove teeth when they got loose because I was impatient. My braces lacerated my upper gum and it took me three days to notice. I can handle most run-of-the-mill mouth pain.

This was so bad I was seriously considering tearing my own teeth out until it stopped. It hurt into the back of my skull and up around my head like there was a molten wire shoved under my skin. When I made my way to my dentist, he discovered that one of my front teeth was necrotic, and I had to have a root canal to get the dead nerve excised before it actually rotted in my mouth. Honestly if I wasn't in so much pain I'd have been horrified, but as it stood I was just glad that something could make the pain go away.

And then the drill broke off in my tooth in the middle of the root canal. The good news was the nerve was already out. The bad news was there was a half-inch of dental drill chilling in my root canal. It was lodged up in there pretty good too, so good I had to go to another dentist who had a special tool for removing broken-off drill bits from people's faces. I didn't know that was a career path before, but by god I'm glad it is. Otherwise I'd have had to get used to having a metal core tooth, which sounds cool until you try to eat something when there's a goddamn drill in your mouth.

On the bright side, I got to keep it as a souvenir when they got it out, so there's that. Yes I do have pictures. It's hosted on imgur so you'll need to copy the link and paste it in your browser manually if you actually want to see this.

Fun, right?

Anyways, see you guys in another month. Hourglass is starting to pick up steam and my classes have plateaued in workload so maybe I can work my way up to a whole two updates a month! Gosh I am living on the edge here.
