So, I'm gonna promote three things · 3:58am Jan 20th, 2018

Well, technically four, but two of them are super related...

First up is this story:

EThrough the Mist
Twilight Sparkle is hailed as one of Equestria's greatest minds, but she has always felt like there was a missing link that she could never understand. She started to understand a bit more when a horned, winged version of herself fell from the sky.

It is, for lack of a better word, surprising. Not only is it by a new author, and amazingly good at that, it also topped the feature box in only a few hours.

Next up! 24cord. Or, less shortened, the discord server of The 24th Pegasus, who is the cause of many great stories, including but not limited to Surviving Sand Island, Numbers, and Why?
Here’s his blog about it, where you can get the link: https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/792241/24cord-the-happening

And now for the two that are related. DragonGeek produced a new story

Which is an entry to the Magical Familiars contest: https://www.fimfiction.net/group/212995/magical-familiars/thread/347799/attempting-a-contest
If you’re not sure what a familiar is, I asked DG about it, and here’s the reply:

The concept is a little vague, but it's basically an animal or spirit of some kind, magically linked to someone (usually a witch). They could be bound to follow their commands, or they could act more like a companion, or even be like a pet. If you're a Harry Potter fan, the snake Nagini could be considered Voldemort's familiar, and the phoenix Fawkes would be Dumbledore's. The other animals in the series are just normal pets. Again, the concept is fuzzy, so there are a lot of different possibilities and ways you could spin this.

Ooh, Through the Mist is going on my Tracking list. I always love seeing good stuff by new(ish) writers.
