Happy Belated New Years + Overview of Last Years Accomplishments +New Year Resolutions 2018 · 2:38pm Jan 7th, 2018
Happy New Years Everypony! Heh, I'm even later than I was Last Year for this blog. That is mostly because things have just been crazy though. x.x Been distracted with other things (like Pokemon. I blame my brother! Haven't even gotten US/UM yet, but he got me going crazy shiny hunting. ) as well as haven't been feeling the best thanks to the cold. *shivers* Anyway I hope all of you have had a good year so far!
Going back to look at last years Resolution list, I didn't do as well as I would have liked (but did more in other general areas) so will go over that first. This is in part for me, so I can keep track of my goals for the year, and to see what I have done in the previous year. Of course I would love to hear what you have to say about it as well, and to hear of what you accomplished in 2017 or hope to in 2018. So feel free to let me know in the comments! Obviously this will be a long blog post as such so will continue after the break.
Going over last years goals one-by-one hopefully briefly:
Goal One: Finish and Graduate College- completed! It was a long, hard road full of frustration, tears, and in the end leaving behind good friends to move back home for awhile but it is done. (No more Math classes wooo!)
Goal Two: Finish Book one of Long Live the Queen- non completed. I was well on my way to finish it by the new year, but then I got sick and silly me hadn't planned for the holidays (having thought I would still be living somewhere in my college town and not be near any family to go crazy with for them.) But I did get a LOT of writing done for book one last year. 11 chapters, 83,151 (+2,769 if counting the 'clop' extra chapter in its own story) words. That is pretty much a chapter a month, so not too bad. I might not have finished yet, but I am proud of what I was able to accomplish.
Goal Three: Finish 'A Promise is Kept'- Completed! I finally ended up getting the inspiration I was needing and I think ended up with a fun little sequel there. I would like to write more with my 'clop only' so far characters, but not sure when that will happen.
Goal Four: Continue with "A Changeling is NOT Your Cousin"- not completed I really tried to get at least another chapter out you guys, but I feel I have lost inspiration for this one. I really do want to write more for it, as this particular crossover I rarely see on here(I think there was maybe two others when I started writing? Haven't looked in awhile though.) but not sure if that will happen. I think I am going to put it on hiatus for now, and hope inspiration hits (ie I find time to go watch the L&S movies/tv shows again and rekindle my ideas for the story.)
That is all my Specific goals I had set, but here are my other accomplishments for 2017:
- Wrote and finished two one shots with just canon characters- Sugarcube Corner: Now Delivering to Tartarus! and Lingmare IV: The Quest for Fans- I had a lot of fun with these, and if you haven't checked them out yet I hope you will give them a chance and a read.
- Started a new story: The Protector. With this one there will likely be few if any canon characters as once it is done I plan to convert it into an original story. Been working on this one for a LONG time, but it took trying to write it in pony to finally get the gears going.
- Uploaded the clop chapters so far for LLtQ- there might not be very many of them atm, but then for those that have read the whole story so far you would see there hasn't been too many instances where something like that could happen.
Okay! Now on to this years goals!
Goal One: Lose weight and get in better shape. I know, very cliche of a New Year's goal, but this year I am more overweight than I have in the past. This is probably partly why I haven't been feeling well. If I get in better shape I should hopefully be able to feel more up to writing and not sleeping the day away feeling ill! Not sure on a goal amount of weight lost for the year yet, but here's hoping I can lose a lot and keep it off!
Goal 2: Finish Long Live the Queen Book One. This one should hopefully be done by end of February at the latest. There are only two chapters plus an epilogue left to go so if I plan my time right and with my editor and pre-readers around to help, we can accomplish this I am quite certain.
Goal 3: Go back and polish up older chapters of LLtQ. Much has changed since I started LLtQ, my writing style and experience in such, (plus I finally got an editor!) So once LLtQ is done I want go back and fix up typos and plot holes and the like to make things flow better. Especially before I start Book Two as many of my future plans for the trilogy have changed since I began. If all goes well this shouldn't take 'too' long. (Heh has never gone back and polished up something of this length before so idk. )
Goal 4: Begin Book Two of LLtQ trilogy. Not sure how far I will end up getting with book two by the end of 2018, but I do plan on doing my best. I am already working on the cover for it(or at least a mockup, not sure if what I have atm will end up being the final cover when it is finished) and will reveal the title of it when I finish Book one.
Goal 5: Continue The Protector. I know many of you are eager to see what happens next (with the horrible place I left you all at...) There is still much left for this story, and I am eager to continue the tale of our beloved couple. Hopefully you will continue to enjoy as we move on ahead.
And I think that is a good enough set of goals for right now. Cheers to a new year and let us hope we will all be around too see what has been accomplished by 2019!
As usual, a beautiful changeling picture to end this extensive blog post!
