Okay...kind of a setback. · 2:14am Jan 7th, 2018
Okay let me paint you a picture. I store most, if not all, of my story ideas, incomplete chapters, and basic character info on a thumb drive. That thumb drive is also used as a backup should my hardware french fry on me.
Now, I have bad news and good news about that thumb drive. Bad news: it went missing. Good news: it is somewhere in my mess of a house. So, minor setback...and I think I have a backup of the backup in one of my bookshelves, so no worries.
IF YOU CAN'T TELL I AM PANICKING!
Check the most weirdest places if you can't find it once I dropped My phone and it somehow got on top of the fridge and to this day I still can't figure out how it happened... (3hours was how long I looked...)
In situations like this it helps to have your towel in hand. Remember... never panic!
Also, don't worry about lost data. Sometimes it can be a small blessing in disguise. Having already written something, you know what you want out of it, and rewriting it can help you reform your previous thoughts and make it even better.

And yeah, you are right.
