Over the holidays, my grandmother was waxing nostalgic about old family stories, and started relating some of the family history with the Oregon Trail. One surname caught my ear. Specifically, the Applegates.
Seems at least one wagon train full of the Applegate family only survived being slaughtered because one of the Applegates had previously been rescued after an injury/illness during a rather harsh winter as he was exploring said Trail by that very tribe, and he had used his gun and horse to keep them supplied with game. When they crept up in the night, they recognized him in the wagon train. Instead of killing everybody, they had a party! (Pinkie would be so proud!)
So they survived and thrived in the Oregon Territory, and while names have changed in the intervening century or two, since they didn't die horribly, here I am, basically a descendent of the Human Apples. So if I was a pony, I would be an Apple. O____o
We do do the yearly family reunion thing...I thought that was normal, though?!

Come to think of it, my "granny" has had a knee replaced, too. Not quite a hip, but still. And it was her sister in law who was the family-renowned baker of pies...
...given my age, size, and work schedule, I might be this universe's doppleganger of Big Mac... O_o
Also, Sweden is awesome. Don't be too jealous. You aren't ruled by a fuzzy turnip. :)

2 younger siblings, the youngest lives in my house. The middle sib works long hours for their job, too, and is never afraid to have fun getting dirty. And even married someone with the right accent. O_o
Ah'm gunna have to look around and see if there's a Canterlot High nearby. Eeyup.
