2017 in Review—The State of Unusual Things · 7:49pm Dec 20th, 2017

Before you start, there's a Christmas Sale on! Colony and Dead Silver both are reduced prices through Christmas! Perfect for last minute gifts!

This year ... was rough. I'm not going to lie.

To be fair, that wasn't the writing's fault. More it was other circumstances. Like the knee injury I acquired in June (which is still healing) and every thing that it brought with it. Okay, mostly it was the knee injury. Pretty much just that. With the knee injury came medical debts, which brought extra work shifts, and that then led to less writing time, and ...

Well, let's just say it's not been the best year. Which is kind of a lousy lead-in to a year in review article, but it was bound to happen sometime, right? I mean, no matter what, one of the years writing had to be a rough one.

Anyway, 2017 marks the third year of Unusual Things being up and open. Which means that despite how rough this year was, it's time for another look back at the year in review to see how I did compared to years prior, and make plans for what's coming.

Wow. That’s a lot of words written. Congrats on being pleasantly surprised!

Y'know, people often tell me that I'm one of the most driven writers they know. Despite this, I think I'm still only going to be pulling around half your numbers – and I don't have to worry about part time jobs or physical injury. I am humbled. Granted, I could do my year-end number checking and find myself "pleasantly surprised," as well. Here's hoping!

Congrats on a better-than-expected year and good luck with 2018!

There's a simple answer, though. You're a driven writer. I'm an insane one. :pinkiecrazy: Logic kind of goes out the window.

Plus, you manage to generate a review article every single week, with a phenomenal amount of reading. That's a lot of effort and time dedicated.

Hmm... Both sound points. I thought you were supposed to be the illogical one.

:rainbowlaugh: 432,000 word draft. Plus Fireteam Freelance, Hunter/Hunted, Starforge, that unnamed and still conceptual Halo novel, More Unusual Events: Another "Short" Story Collection, The Phoenix, another unnamed Jacob Rocke book, a Sci-Fi YA called Nexus ... The list goes on.

All too much for a sane mind.
