Well, that's a thing. · 3:16am Dec 16th, 2017
I don't read much fanfic, pony or otherwise.
Which is funny, considering the amount of fanfic I write, but when it's time to curl up with a book I tend to go for non-pone based stuff. Go figure.
BUT.
As I blunder around on FiMFiction, I stumble across Filly Fantasy VI A ponified-ish version of Final Fantasy III, (a.k.a. Final Fantasy VI, depending on who you ask). Which just happens to be one of my favorite video games evar. Like "I have significant opinions on the translation" favorite. Ted Woolsey is the best, for the record. On top of that, the author gets bonus points for calling themselves "Wyld Stallyns," because Bill & Ted are awesome and better time travelers than Dr. Who. But I digress.
But yeah. Wyld Stallyns has only written this one fanfic, and it's pushing 300k words without finishing yet. Holy shit. I just read the first two chapters-- and while the first sticks ridiculously close to the source material, things are already diverging in the second, and ... uh, yeah.
Still, my curiosity is peaked, so I miiiiight keep reading this. If nothing else, I'm curious to see which ponies get cast as which Final Fantasy characters. I mean, by the story's logic so far, Rarity would make a solid Celes ... but if the story were to follow the game's plot, that would mean it'd have a heavy RariDash element AND THAT SHIT AIN'T CANON. Ehehm.
So yeah, videogame fannery vs. shipping fannery. WHICH WILL WIN? Stay tuned.
In the meanwhile, I think I'll have another beer.
It's actually a collab by two authors iirc and has been great fun to read, even as someone who isn't familiar with FF6.

I will go now.
