Talking stories: From Lost to Loved (no spoilers) · 6:45pm Dec 10th, 2017
Hello everyone!
So I've been reading some fics lately and I'm thinking of perhaps commenting on them a bit more often than before. So, you know, more than once every two years.
Granted, one of my Patreon* options will help with this if it gets any attention, but hay, getting some practice won't hurt either. Now. The reason I chose the following story is because I'm not a big fan of the MLP Movie.
I know, I know, don't hate on me. I just couldn't stomach watching the whole thing, but as Starlight Glimmer is my witness (literally, she's the perfect example) I've been known to warm up once I see a bit of fandom interpretations to characters.
So to begin with, I threw myself like a starved, howling, zerg at a story I know would be well-written and explore a completely different side of Twilight Spark. I mean… Uh, Tempest Shadow than what I saw on screen before I turned it off.
As such, I bring to you…
Faced with redemption or prison, Tempest Shadow accepts Twilight’s hoof in friendship, though she fears how much trauma her new friend has endured on her behalf. With a hopeful heart, Tempest takes her place at Twilight’s side, but when she falls for the one who gave her a new meaning in life, things only get more complicated.
By The Abyss
This is a non-spoilery reaction-read, btw, so don't expect me to expose the dark secrets around the mirror or something.
I'll be honest, Abyss does good fluff. A lot more than I do for sure, and I'm always a sucker for redemption stories if done right. He also chose his pre-readers well, so we know content will be interesting overall.
This is NOT a fast-paced story, to begin with, and has plenty of self-reflection and slow moving-forward. Tempest seems actually repentant in her inner dialogue and comfortably confrontational when facing others, which is a good thing! You never want the easy path!
Overall, it does paint Tempest in a much more sympathetic light, showcasing an inner struggle that I hope somehow reflects what happened to her in the movie. Mostly because that's a plus in my book in the fight against predictable villains.
Having said that, I now want to find a story where she's repentant but in the end decides to let the world burn.
In any case, if you want some cute writing about villainous redemption and an evolving romance that promises to go on for a while, and culminate in glorious lovin', I'd say give this one a go. Especially if you like TwiPest(?) TempLight(?) let me check on discord… nope, no better ideas.
So, especially if you like TwiPest.
Give it a go, if you haven't read it and let me know what you thought so far!
*I know I didn't link it there, I just don't want to shove it down people's throats! Patrons are very much appreciated, but I really don't want to look like a goddamned salesman here. Having said that… check it out if you have the time?
It's amazing how much this mirrors my experience over the past few days. Personally, I strongly disliked the movie, and Tempest's character wasn't exactly likable in my opinion. While some excellent stories make Tempest come across as a better character, at least from the ones I've read, I'm still not a fan of hers. I guess that's just how I feel.
Anyway, I'll be sure to check the story out when I get the chance. Fluffy stories can be lots of fun, after all, and it sounds like this one does a good job taking Tempest's character and portraying her in a more sympathetic light.
I think the shipname should be TwiPop.
Her name is, after all, Fizzle Pop Berry Twist
4745586 Twipop is good. Fizzle Light is also good.

Twipop sounds like a special brand of lolipopos. Fizzle Light is like a new brand of soda
Good choice, if I do say so. I personally greatly enjoy the story so far, and am looking forward to the next chapters
